Bottle from Chez Moeder Lambic Fontainas, Brussels; bottle 043/300
Black color with brownish head. In this beer the roasted malts are well combined with the grappa; it’s quite dry but smooth, with some salty liquorice feeling; the aroma is a bit animal, sheep fur; not much bitterness; there are some ashes.<bt>Interesting, different.

Black with a thick and lasting tan head. Aroma of dried fruit, licorice, dark chocolate, vineous fruity notes and wine, and a little sharp tannic oak. Dry and slightly tart flavour with fruity and roasted character, including a touch of coffee. A bit thin and with a rather simple aftertaste

Bottle, bought @ Delirium, Brussels. Light gusher. Pours completely opaque black with a small, staying, creamy beige head. Aroma is sweet, roasted, chocolate, grapes, vinious, light astringent. Low carbonation, fine dry and light creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has a whole lot of coffee, roasted, chestnut, grapes. Tart at first, oaky, hazelnuts, quite chewy. Tart and dry and lacks a bit of sweetness in the middle.

19/I/13 - 75cl bottle @ RBBWG 2013 - bottled: IV/2012 (2013-58) Thanks to Sebletitje for sharing the bottle!

Very dark brown beer, almost black, small beige to brown head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: lots of chocolate, caramel, cocoa powder, bit dry, roasted aroma’s. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: mocha, coffee, chocolate, cocoa powder, some citrus, little hoppy, earthy touch. Aftertaste: mocha, dry, hoppy, some citrus, cocoa powder, bit dusty. Can’t tell the grappa from this though. I don’t think grappa can stand up to a RIS.

Clear dark, black colour, red hue, no head. Aroma of boozy grappa, lots of alcohol, overpowering the stout characteristics. Light chocolate. Sweet alcoholic flavour, grappa, malts, light liquorice. Finish grappa.

UPDATED: APR 8, 2013 Bottle courtesy of Seabass, thanks! Very dark brown color, small tan edge head. Aroma of boozy chocolate. Taste is boozy coffee. Second tasting courtesy of Chris, merci bien! Much less boozy, more like a peppery coffee stout. Not bad.

75cl bottle sample @ RBBWG 2013 Nice shrink wrap bottle 020/300.

Thx! to Sebletitje for bringing this one. Beautifully gift wrapped 75 cl. bottle sampled @ RBBWG 2013. Bottle nr. 020/300 – 300 75’s equalling one barrel in general if I am not mistaken. Pours a dark, lighter black. Smell is that of sweet booze, light grappa, chocolate with sweet spices, coffee. Taste is bitter burned coffee blended with hers, chocolate, cacao, sweet spices, dark malts with some sweetness following, brown sugar and dark fruits, burned non-ground coffee grains and interesting grappa & quality booze in the back. Tad creamy. Not entirely sold on Gappa aging yet, this is very interesting but I rated the original a bit higher than this. If the aging is interesting & the result is good, my complaints are mute I suppose. I guess I am just a bit used to seeing barrels being used to pimp beers. Beats the cognac one, thx. / cheers.
