Quack-Duck (3132), Bodensee/Schwarzwald, Germany Jul 28, 2007 75cl bottle. Amber colour, persistent head. Slightly sweet and very malty flavour with hints of roasted malt, slightly hoppy. Lovely hops. ekstedt (2411), Göteborg, Sweden Jul 22, 2007 Updated: Aug 16, 2007Can (50 cl) bought in Bayeaux, Normandie, France. Clear amber with a creamy medium beige head. Roasted nutty malt aroma with dusty and earthy notes, and a touch of alcohol. Medium bodied with and very soft. Dry and bitter, and slightly metallic. Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 21, 2007 Poured a foggy chestnut amber color with a small soapy head circumnavigated with bubbles. Chalky, mildly sour, sugary sweet and warm nutty nose. Creamy woody sweet malt flavor that doesn’t hold up in the finish. Alright beer, but nothing super special. pivnizub (4953), Bochum, Porúří, Germany Jul 20, 2007 Bottle (75cl): Clear, amber coloured, small persisting and lacing off-white layer; sweet, caramelly,dark-malty and fruity nose; soft, moderate sweet flavour with a very faint bitterness; medium bodied; sweet-malty, bit toasted-malty finish. not very complex, but quite nice....... kramer (2407), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 14, 2007 25 oz bottle, Stateline Liquors. Pours a crystal clear dark gold to amber colored body under a foamy off-white one finger head. Some patchy sticky lacing. The aroma is lightly fruity and sweet with grassy hay like notes. Some light grainy toasted malt. Really smells more like a regular Amber Ale than a BdG. The flavor is softly malty with a little bit of farmhouse funkiness. Finishes dry with a light yeast influence. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with really prickly fizzy carbonation. Finishes with a drying carbonic bite. Overall, not a whole lot of character to this one. Really confused why this one is completely filtered, seems like that’s not the intent of a Bière de Garde. minch25 (350), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jul 12, 2007 Deep mahogany color, light head. Very unique flavor that I would describe as chestnut. Excellent. Too bad I have to come all the way to Paris to try this. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 28, 2007 Bottle sampled. Pours orange copper, with a decent size khaki colored head. Aroma of caramel, sweetness, and spices. The flavor is sweet, caramel, spices, and finishes with bitterness and honey. acearl (207), J-Town, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 24, 2007 12oz bottle...Nice copper amber hue with creamy diminishing tan head, not much lacing, malty smell and taste, lightly carbonated, a little sweet caramel, a little hoppy. Good balance. Alcohol % listed higher than tastes. All in all slightly above average. Have not had too many French beers.
