joe19612 (673), camberley, Surrey, England Apr 6, 2007 Can. A nice malty taste and hoppy flavour. Real dark brown in colour very good. yespr (11649), Copenhagen O, Denmark Mar 24, 2007 50 cL can. Pours with off-white head and orange colour. Aroma is malty and straw/hops. Creamy mouthfeel. Good soft/sweet caramel malty taste which goes into a soft bitterness. Ends slight sweet malty. Ringo (959), Loveland, Colorado, USA Mar 23, 2007 Quite the nice and refreshing bier de garde. A little malty for the stly but it works. CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Mar 20, 2007 Bottle sampled on 9/20/06: Pours a clear copper orange with a thin wispy white head. Aroma of sweet caramely malt and some earthy character. Body starts sweet and malty with decent balance and a smooth slightly toasty finish. A decent Biere de Garde. Earlier Rating: 2/12/2003 Total Score: 3 Clear copper color and a full blooming head. Soft malty aroma with slight hoppy notes. Flavor is thick, but soon thins out into an astringently bitter and sour mixture that leaves a tart sticky residue on my tounge. Only the second Bière de Garde I've tried, but nowhere near comparable to the first. robinvboyer (1419), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada Mar 19, 2007 Updated: Jun 22, 2007very floral, some nice malt in the background. bitterness is very welcome in the finish, i really enjoyed this. Maria (6056), Thisted, Denmark Mar 1, 2007 A very nice amber color and a good head. The aroma has nice floral notes of fruit, caramel and yeast. I find the same notes in the flavour together with notes of spice, licorice, light sweetness and alcohol. The finish has citrus notes. It’s a nice and average ambree. Poperinge (359), Cowtown, Alberta, Canada Feb 13, 2007 Updated: Oct 10, 2009Brought this from France in a very heavy backpack and a railroad strike in Paris, but it was worth the effort. A little maltier than most Bière de Gardes I have had since but very enjoyable. Page 152 of Michael Jackson’s Great Beer Guide only 415 out of 500 Classic Brews to go.
