Jerre (1755), Waregem, Belgium Dec 31, 2006 Bottle, 75 cl. Taste this beer last week at Lanslevillard (Val Cenis)
Copper color with a full white head. Sweet and malty aroma. Sweet taste, bitter end. You get some caramel flavors and it is medium bodied. It feels nice in the mouth and there is a sweetness in the aftertaste. drpimento (785), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA Dec 30, 2006 poured with a very aromatic frothy, foamy light tan head. bitter, citrusy, toffee, malty that gives way to sweetnes and then bitterness again on the back of the tongue and roof of the mouth. head mostly disipates. cloudy dark amber. no lace. got this in a beer of the month club amber 11.2 oz bottle Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA Dec 30, 2006 bottle-thanks to vyvvy for the free bottle. What his rating is definatly on par with waht i have to say about the beer, even before i read his rating. pours amber with a small white head around the rim of the glass. nose is lightly musty, carmel, and light funk. flavors are well balanced, but not really exciting for the style-light funk, musty flavors of carmel amber malts, light yeast dryness and some wet grainy notes. finish is spicy with lingering ginger and funk. 7.5% is nowhere to be found. BeerBiker (1384), Odense, Denmark Dec 29, 2006 [Sampled in Jura, France in 2004.]
Bought a few bottles for my cellar in DK. This beer was the favorite, because of its brown look and very wellbalanced aroma and flavor. Some bitterness and not so much malty sweetness. Fullbodied with notes af honey/vanilla and grains. Hard to getting angry at! mazfln (83), Florianópolis, Brazil, Brazil Dec 22, 2006 330ml bottle. Red/Amber dark color, nice white head.
Sweet with a bit of bitterness that I associated with campari, and some sourness. Ok mouthfeel.
Nice beer, but a little pricey over here... Bart (1625), Vosselaar, Belgium Dec 16, 2006 Paris, Canned. Light amber coloured, with some light carbonation and a small white head. Sweet malty, light alcoholic aroma. Full body, little sprankling. Finish is sweet roasted caramel with a light alcoholic touch. Stronger finish. vyvvy (2023), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA Dec 9, 2006 Pours hazy amber with a small white-ish head. The aroma has amber ale malt, light caramel and a light musiness. There are hints of butterscotch and honey. Medium body with lots of carbonation. Starts with the malt profile of a typical boring amber ale with a slightly more spice and some fruitiness. The finish has some sourness and astringency. Not bad, but for a biere de garde this seems kind of boring for what is usually a very interesting style. RagallachMC (631), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Nov 30, 2006 11.2oz bottle. Aroma: Light malt with more sweetness than I expected. Caramel, citrus, yeast, and very light floral and spice. Appearance: Dark amber with orange highlights. Very effervescent. Off-white head was medium sized and foamy with good retention. Not much lacing. Flavor: Sweet malt and caramel, slight lemon, light breadiness, floral, and spice. Palate: Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. Overall: Not bad, but very disappointing. None of the good earthy qualities that I like in the style. Very pedestrian.
