D (538), Poland Jan 20, 2006 Updated: Sep 26, 2009Copper colour, thick head. Weird smell; at first I didn’t like the beer but later it showed many different flavours - fruits, spices, caramel. Nice bitterness, almost no alcohol traces. There is something intriguing about the taste. Definitely good.
Re: this time in can, seemed more alcoholic, but still good. Thaichile (599), 10aFly, New Jersey, USA Jan 9, 2006 750 bottle. Champagne cork and cage. Pours light amber with a slight head. Scents of malt and fruit. Opens with a honeyed sweetness, moving into fruits and malt and completing with a dry finish. Totally enjoyable as I have begun to think I really appreciate this style. dornoy (679), Lyngby, Denmark Jan 8, 2006 High, long-lasting, thich offwhite head on an amber body. The taste is not too bitter, and it tasytes even bette when chilled in the cold winter air of Denmark. Very pleasurable brinking, with hints of carmel, fruits and probably honey. I’ll drink it again in any season. CampbellWilson (533), Scotland Jan 4, 2006 Bottle from Beers of Europe. Lovely amber colour with persistant head. Caramelly, spicy, plummy aroma. Fruity finish. Good beer. oldrtybastrd (1801), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA Jan 2, 2006 Pours a hazy amber color. Aromas of sweet malt. Flavor of sweet malt(honey), alcohol tastes bigger than 6.5%. Dry finish and aftertaste. Cable (286), SE, Oklahoma, USA Dec 21, 2005 Sampled from bottle. Pours cloudy, copper-amber with a scattered, off-white head. Aroma is dominated by yeast character: plums, pears, apples and some earthiness. Flavor is slightly sweet and tart with apples and a simple malt profile. Various other fruits and a bit of hop spiciness are also present. Medium-full body and well-carbonated. A good farmhouse beer, but not up to par with La Choulette or La Chouffe. Rastacouere (5552), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Dec 20, 2005 Clearish amber-orange bodied, offering a light white film with minimal lacing. Incredibly soft nose comes out rather phenolic, but in line with the bready aromatics that almost hint at rye. Sweet and mildly farmy in mouth. It develops a floral graininess that appears idiosyncratic when paired with the fitting corky, musty notes. Gently mineral palate accentuates the otherwise simplistic earthiness that grows on you. Cementy phasing from dry to wet doughy aftertaste. Soft bodied, gently carbonated, cleansing and spicy. A very soft beer altogether that impresses on many levels. Authentic and true. Belial (60), France Dec 11, 2005 pours a head that fades quickly. Light gold/red colour with a somehow low carbonation. Sweet fruity aroma with a nice malt flavour.
A pretty good beer that I’d drink along the famous "carbonade flamande" (beef in wine sauce), good choice next to a beef course.
