3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 jpm30 (1587) - East Central, Georgia, USA - JAN 7, 2007
From a caged corked, H-6 on the cork, 750 ml. green bottle with a blurb on the back label, sampled at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.
Poured a clear reddish amber with a frothy, foamy head that settled into a thin sudsy lacing.
Aromas of lightly toasted grains, a apple and grape fruitiness with a little orange zest, earthy yeast, and a soft floral hoppiness.
Good even carbonation and a crisp, dry, velvety smooth medium-light bodied mouthfeel.
Pleasant tasting, toasted grassy grains and caramelized sugary maltiness, earthy, peppery yeastiness, a light fruitiness, a bit apple and orange, spicy hops with a soft, but lingering bitterness, a slight taste of alcohol towards the end, the alcohol provides a subtle warming in the palate, and a dry grainy, subtle fruity, spicy finish.
Not a great, but not a bad Biere de Garde, if I lived in northern France, I could see this being a everyday beer, easy, smooth drinkability, but at $6.99 a bottle here in central Illinois, only once in awhile ale.

Bottle, 75 cl. Taste this beer last week at Lanslevillard (Val Cenis)
Copper color with a full white head. Sweet and malty aroma. Sweet taste, bitter end. You get some caramel flavors and it is medium bodied. It feels nice in the mouth and there is a sweetness in the aftertaste.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Terminus (2538) - Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA - DEC 30, 2006
bottle-thanks to vyvvy for the free bottle. What his rating is definatly on par with waht i have to say about the beer, even before i read his rating. pours amber with a small white head around the rim of the glass. nose is lightly musty, carmel, and light funk. flavors are well balanced, but not really exciting for the style-light funk, musty flavors of carmel amber malts, light yeast dryness and some wet grainy notes. finish is spicy with lingering ginger and funk. 7.5% is nowhere to be found.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 BeerBiker (1412) - Odense, DENMARK - DEC 29, 2006
[Sampled in Jura, France in 2004.]
Bought a few bottles for my cellar in DK. This beer was the favorite, because of its brown look and very wellbalanced aroma and flavor. Some bitterness and not so much malty sweetness. Fullbodied with notes af honey/vanilla and grains. Hard to getting angry at!
3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 mazfln (112) - Florianópolis, BRAZIL - DEC 22, 2006
330ml bottle. Red/Amber dark color, nice white head.
Sweet with a bit of bitterness that I associated with campari, and some sourness. Ok mouthfeel.
Nice beer, but a little pricey over here...
