Brodie (540), Blowing Rock, North Carolina, USA Jan 28, 2005 Clean aroma, red grape skins, faint herbal hops. Clear deep amber color, good sized beige head. Malty flavor, sweet, with a little yeasty earthiness. Medium body. Easy to drink. jtw (942), farmington, Michigan, USA Jan 26, 2005 pretty chestnut color. yeasty nutty aroma and flavor, but mostly tastes like a french version of an english mild. very neutral. erway (1002), Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA Jan 12, 2005 Pours a deep golden w/ very little head. Aromas of ripe red apples and cinnamon. Sweetish flavors of honey w/ some yeastiness. A little too sweet. MAP (1085), Lakewood, Ohio, USA Jan 10, 2005 Good looking red orange color and a decent head on tio. The aroma is a crisp leafy citrus and a hint of yeast. The taste is less warm and roasty but more crisp and leafy. Rather sweet for a Biere de Garde, kind of sugary. Overall a rather good beer, but could use a bit more warmth. HopasaurusRex (195), Glen Ellyn, Illinois, USA Jan 8, 2005 I haven’t had too many Biere de Gardes, but this wouldn’t be what I thought it’d taste like. I always thought BDG’s were earthy and richly malty, but this was more straightforward and just malty. Also had a cinnamon overtone to the flavor. Didn’t love it, but a well made beer and seemed quite fresh for an import. mustang3 (254), Whitby, Canada Jan 1, 2005 Bottle @ Cafe Volo. Poured a nice reddish amber colour with very little head. COmplex nose and flavour with caramel malts, fruitiness and finishing with a combination of barnyard flavour and a touch of bitterness. Great beer. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA Jan 1, 2005 A nicely done, sweet biere de garde. Taste is sweet and malty with typical barnyard flavors. Nice lacing but just a bit too malty. I’d drink it again though. HoppyBunny (88), Temptation, Michigan, USA Jan 1, 2005 Deep amber in color, with lite head and the aroma with a cherry aroma. Caramel taste with as noted before buttery. Has a tart after finish. Love feeling like I am in Paris drinking a beer with my love.
