Poured from a green 750 mL bottle. The body is a slightly darker red, kind of like iced tea. Has a head that is Slightly sour aroma of vinegar, oak and some old socks. Also has some old apples. The flavor is a fairly dry wool banket (not horse blanket). Has some notes of plantains. It is hard to describe. Reminds me of a nice mild and malty bitter. Certainly unique.

Orange/brown with a small white head. Aromas are grain and watered down malt whisky. Flavours are sweet grain with a woody, oak barrel character. Quite cloying on the palate. Sometimes I just don’t get on with French beer, don’t know why.

red amber copper colour with no foam... I’m not sure what to make of a biere de garde but it has amber oak and caramel flavours and is very sweet on the palate. I liked this beer.

A clear dark amber color with a fine bubbled beige head. Nice rich malt scent, sweet but decent malt flavors. A slight metallic taste is a bit of a drawback to an otherwise solid brew.

I has hoping for more. On the pour:nice copper colour, with slightly off white head. The nose is mild and pleasant. On taste:malt, some spice, and sugar, pepper and tangy earth. The finish is sweet but nice..Pleasant and not overpowering.A good beer. A little watery, good finish.

Sampled at the Taverne Saint Germain in Paris, France. Copper. Nose of caramel, toasted malts, ripe fruit, lemon and a hint of apple. This was a very pleasant, very mellow, dry and a very flavorful and traditional Biere de Garde. Farmhouse characteristics. Burnt caramel, toasted malts, ripe fruits, perhaps a hint of ginger and a lingering suggestion of pit fruit on the finish. Lovely.

11.2 fl.oz bottle. cookie like malt aroma. faint hops. deep reddish copper color with a nice head. slightly burned caromel. slight nuttyness but the burned flavor is kind of distracting. metallic blood like flavor in the finish. not sure if that was intended. possibly a bad bottle. The store guy said that the distributer gave them a good deal. mabey spending some time in a hot wharehouse is why. 75 cl bottle. pours amber with a thin head. much mellower than the small bottles. malt and nut aromas. flavor is malty nutty with caromel and almost too sweet but tempered by the hops. finishes slightly dry wilth a lingering syrupy malt flavor.

Presentation: Brown euro size bottle - 330ml. Freshness date 7/04 (just under the wire). Appearance: A red/amber color with light carbonation and an off-white head (poor retention). Nice sticky lacing. Aroma: Malt, caramel and a grassy presence of hops. Taste/Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and slightly sweet. Mouthfeel is creamy at the start with a light hop bite and effervescent finish. IMHO: A fair brew with a nice mouthfeel, but not a lot of memorable qualities.
