FROTHINGSLOSH (1961), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 7, 2008 Sampled from a 750 ml green bottle this beer poured a vivid caramel amber color with a huge orange-white head that lingered. The aroma was lightly skunky, malty and lightly sweet. The flavor was bitter, tangy, odd and skunky. There was something weird in here that I could not identify over the skunk. Not good. durhambeer (1186), Durham, USA Jun 6, 2008 33cl bottle. Bright amber color with minimal head. Sweet malt, honey, and bit of caramel on the nose. Minimal spice. More malt, slight toffee on the taste. Overall, a bit sweet and a little one-note with the malt. wyzzywyz22 (754), Wirral, Merseyside, England May 16, 2008 Large bottle, Casino supermarche, Cannes. Reddy amber colour with a dissipating small white head. Aroma is sweetish with some spice, malt and fruit evident. Flavour is similar with a vaguely nutty malt finish. Steady enough brew although was getting a little weary of it as I ploughed through the king size bottle. Dedollewaitor (3625), Odense, Denmark May 13, 2008 75cl bottle. Pours dark amber with a creamy white head. Aroma & taste is of malts, caramel, spices & some citric/earthy notes. Medium filling palate. Overall quite sweet. . . and far from superior Biere de garde - quite drinkable though! tlind2 (560), Helsinki, Finland May 7, 2008 750 ml bottle. The amber color suits the name. Lasting white head. Sharp aroma of hops, some earthy and citric notes and a definite sense of raw banana peel. Initially hoppy flavor that rounds off to caramel. Not my favorite biere de garde, but not hopeless either. jgentgesdo (564), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Apr 24, 2008 Pours clear amber with a medium tan head. Nose is caramel malt and tobacco. Caramel, smoky flavor with a fair amount of bitterness. Long bitter finish. Not bad. thill25 (216), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 17, 2008 750 ml...poured a nice copper color w/ fizzy white head. I can’t comment of the lacing because I wasn’t using proper glassware (hotel). Nose of malt, tobacco, grass, hay, caramel...Flavor was all over the place...malts, hops, fruits, grains, lots of metallics, alcohol...The finish was very bitter and I couldn’t get the metallics to leave my palate. Mostly, this beer just pissed me off... DruncanVeasey (2690), The Penguin’s Arms, Europe, Warwickshire, England Apr 8, 2008 750ml bottle. Sweet and warming from the off, with a caramel malt nuttiness and faint marzipan notes (alcohol). Faint nuts, wood and almond in aroma. Strawberry jelly red with an off-white slick of suds. Wheat, caramel, cardboard and biscuit in the aftertaste. Lacks any depth of malt character. Sick of watery reddish beers at this abv with no complexity or real flavour beyond that of alcohol. Dead, insipid, completely unexceptional. Can’t be arsed pouring another glass of it.
