Wow! Interesting. Is this really apple-beer or does it just taste and smell of it? It’s almost like a mix of cider and beer. It’s quite sophisticated, and Carl even thinks it’s like champagne with soft bubbles!

This shiny amber-coloured unpasturized french Bière de garde has a heavy body with a sweet finish. If you get the champagnebottle, try to keep it for at least 24 months and you´ll get a less sweeter variety. Then you can enjoy the orange and spicy taste even more.

A bit sweet with a hint of orange in the nose. Lovely ambercolour and a bit of licorice in the finish.

UPDATED: APR 21, 2004 ["champagne" bottle"]I wasnt expecting much after reading all the reviews here, but this one was sure a nice surprise, a very sweet fruity and hoppy nose, a beautiful light brown coppar color, and a nice sweet, fruity, a little hoppy taste. I want more of this...

This copper-amber coloured French Bière du Garde, really has a suitable name, beer to keep. After 2 years in the cellar it gets a little less sweeter in the 75 cl bottles.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Amber coloured. Nice creamy, bubbly tan head.
Nice aroma of fruit, nuts and yeast, and a toasted smell. Taste is sweet caramel and lots more besides. Nutty, toasted, some yeast, some alcohol. Sweetish finish, slightly bitter aftertaste. Full bodied, excellent mouthfeel. Very good beer.
