badbeer (391), Iowa, USA Jul 5, 2008 Decent amber color, white head, trace amounts of lacing. Slightly sour, green apples, cherries, and maybe even some strawberry. Taste is of nice sweet caramel, with some very subtle fruit undertones. Higher carbonation, heavier side of medium bodied. Pretty good beer, I don’t know that I’d get this often but I’m sure there are plenty of occasions in which it would work quite well. Glouglouburp (1876), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jul 2, 2008 In short: A very bland amber ale (supposedly a Bière de Garde)
How: Bottle. Sample at Mondial de la Bière 2008
The look: Clear dark golden body topped by a very small off-white head
In long: Some oily caramel, some light overripe citrus touch, light papery sensation in the finish, very smooth carbonation. Really there wasn’t anything to this beer more than that. Commercial description says “The most widely available Bière de Garde”. That doesn’t mean it’s good, my cousin Louis has been very much available for his entire life and I don’t see any taker on the horizon either. Ober (214), Best, Netherlands Jul 1, 2008 It’s clear amber colored beer, with a beige foamy head. Th aroma is malty sweet of caramel and fruity. The taste is fruity from pine, a little bitter and some honey. It has a long light bitter aftertaste.
Not bad at alll. azlondon (461), Greater London, England Jun 27, 2008 Appearance: Dark brown, redish. Little head - more when warmer. Little bubbles.
Aroma: Malty, very fruity. Raisins.
Taste: Pretty malty, not that fruity.
Info: 750ml bottle, 18/3-2006, 91/300, 53/500 LilBeerDoctor (300), East Setauket, New York, USA Jun 23, 2008 On tap at the Ginger Man. Pours a cloudy orange with a white head. Aroma of sweet malt, spices, and light fruits. Flavor of light raisin, dark fruits, honey. Reminded me of Bink Bloesem without the pear. Light-bodied, decent.
