Caramel, a hint of pepper but diacetyl in there. The diacetyl is difficult to get past on the tongue too, with the bits of caramel and toastiness being dominated. Thin to medium in body, average carbonation and a light, short finish. wheresthepath (556), Buckinghamshire, England

Clear chestnut with a slim ivory top fed by a gentle but tenacious carbonation. None of the expected fizz and emptiness. Straw, chocolate and caramel aroma with a puff of sulphur about it. Quite full and oily for a pasteurised beer at such modest strength; caramel and Weetabix milk, vague attempts at nuttiness, ferny hop, hay, butter and cardboard. Quite a generous lick of Lurpak. Some bean-like vegetable matter in the aroma. Reminds me of Banks’s. Probably is come to think of it. Didn’t touch the sides after the nightmare that was wk 46. Bullit (1394), Glasgow, Scotland
