Beautiful to look at. Beautiful well balanced head over a golden colour. Low carbonation and lots of suds and soapy tastes. Great.

Pours hazy golden with a small white head and good lacing. Aroma is straw malt and a little oxidized. Taste is slightly offputting from the oxidation, straw and biscuit malts with slight honey and earthy hops.

Pours brown & sudsy into the glass. Aroma is muddy vegetable broth, which seems to be a signature of the style judging by the beers in this Marston’s 6 pack. There’s actual bitterness here -- I know, I know the style doesn’t actually call for authentic bitterness -- & there’s more hoppiness (another rater below calls the hops here dandelion-like & he is dead on) than others in the sampler. 2nd last bottle in the 6 pack & it’s been pretty underwhelming.

500 mL bottle. Orange. Just a ring of head, but it laces nicely. A fairly hoppy bitter, but the body is a tad on the thin side. Certainly drinkable, but nothing special. Stands out for the hops, I guess.

Part of the Marston’s PLC 6 Pack. The beer pours an amber hued gold with a thin snow white head. The aroma is very grassy with some weak floral hop notes. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is grass, hops, and some light fruit notes. No caramel to speak of, which I expect out of a bitter.

Part of the Classic Ales 6-pack at the LCBO for Christmas 2014. Pours a slightly unfiltered golden-amber colour with a frothy cream warm cap, good retention and some wavy-creamy lacing. Aromas of bread, caramel malts, soft hops that give out hints of vanilla and dandelion. Creamy and oily mouthfeel with a tad of dryness. Flavours of toffee and grass. A little more bitter than most bitters.

Fairly basic bitterhere. Gold pour, 1 finger of head. Malty aroma, bready, faint english hopping in both aroma and taste. Pleasant enough but nothing to seek out

Clear copper pour, medium white head. Your basic bitter, aroma of soft bready malts, some pungent goldings and fuggles, and some soft minerals. The finish is more of the same. Medium bitterness pungent hops. Pretty basic.

I like a good Golden Ale and was looking forward to this but, a bit like Bombardier Burning Gold, it left me disappointed. Had a bit of an artificial taste, a bit metallic. Looks lovely though.

500 ml bottle in a mixed pack from LCBO, served cold in a tulip glass.

App.: Clear deep golden with a decent off-white head. Aroma: Quite grainy with some corn-like aroma, sort of an odd burnt hair/rubber/sulphur smell, herbal/earthy hops, maybe a bit phenolic. Palate: Medium body with fairly full carbonation. Flav.: Same rough grainy character with a more herbal/floral hop flavour, cleaner than the nose, a little peppery; dry with decent bitterness and a grainy malt finish.

Not a great start to this mixed pack.
