Tasted this in the Saltcot, Saltcoats (JDW) in September 2001. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear pale garnet in colour with a thin white head. Floral hop aromatic on the nose. Thin mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malt gives a digestive biscuit note with raisins fruit evident. Floral hop resins give a dusty bitter aftertaste. Finish is malty and sweet with vinous overtones. An ok session bitter but not exceptional.

UPDATED: MAR 6, 2011 1)En Burbage. Clear conker red with a head of Gillette. Not convinced I should be entering this under the ’cask’ version, but it was a pulled pint in a pub. Varnishy walnut malt aroma. Palate of milk. Bitter nuthusk maltiness softened slightly by raisin and toffee. Grew on me slowly, but I didn’t finish it. 535311. 2) The Weaver’s, Hinckley. Pale copper with an off white slick. Gentle rub of ferny hop and toffee aroma. Oily carbonation, cocoa dusted Weetabix and puffed wheat, light toast, milky nut traces. Good average beer. 636312.

Tan brown body with a super bright white, shinny head. Sherry textured supported by sweet nutty flavours. Good bitter finish and palate. An out of the ordinary ale, the kind that keep you coming back to the Wenlock for more.
