Cask. No aroma. Almost clear dark amber colour. Creamy flavour, mild nut not, hint of grassy hops. Subtle combination, but not bad.

2 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pint from cask. Pours bright gold with a fair, creamy head. Aroma is intensely unpleasant - smells of vomit. Some ester notes also, and these carry through to the taste, which is of blueberries mixed with Perrier water. Not all that great.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Dark amber in colour, aroma is floral and some malt. On the taste I have to say it’s one of those thin in the mouth feel English bitters like Shepherd Neame’s Spitfire. Find them a bit watery and lacking body on the palate. this is the same. Also quite intensely dry and bitter on the finish. Not one I’ll have again.

Cask at Bedford Athletic Rugby Club. Amber with a white head. Grainy malt aroma and taste with some straw and sourness. Sharp bitter finish. Makes a welcome change to GK IPA as the guest ale at this Midlands 1 East Rugby Club. But got beat by Leighton Buzzard today.

2.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
I have drunk this in many places - usually Hobson’s choice - and it never strikes me as being a great or even a good beer. Little aroma and very, very bland. One can give Marston’s the credit for maintaining production at Cockermouth but they really should be putting out something with a bit more oomph than this.

Cask (Saddle Inn, Keswick, York): A bit unclear, deep golden, "woody" hoppy nose with a subtle fruitiness; very light bodied, moderate bitter-sweet flavour; a certain fruitiness plus herbal hops in the dry finish. O.K......
