A classic English style bitter with a distinctive red hue. Crystal malt gives the beer it’s rounded toffee flavour.

Cask conditioned at The Cambridge Blue, Cambridge. Brown amber beer with white head. Perfumed hop is the initial impact, with a toffee caramel note. Smooth and fruity with hints of Strawberry and a strange sweetish background. Short on the finish, its ok but lacks some character.

UPDATED: OCT 20, 2009 Cask (handpump) at The Colonies, Westminster, London. Looks like a new beer. Whether it is a one-off or a new spring seasonal remains to be seen. The commercial description pretty much tells you all you need to know. A mid copper coloured, traditional best bitter. The aroma does indeed exhibit a distinct toffee character. The flavour is a mix of light caramel malt and dusty hops. More fruity than bitter. Perfectly acceptable but nothing out of the ordinary. (6/4/6/3/12) Re-rate: Cask (handpump) at the Victoria, Lincoln, April 2008. Much stronger hop presence with a quite herbal bitterness making for a significantly better balance.

Ungstrup (24008) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - MAR 5, 2007
Cask at Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen. A hazy amber beer with a light orange head. The aroma is sweet fruity with light notes of diacethyl, and the flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of fruit as well as light notes of diacethyl and caramel, leading to a bitter end. The body is thin.

Cask conditioned @ Park Inn, Southampton. Toffeish malts and earthy hops. Fullish body with quite noticeable nutty crystal. In good conditioned and fairly drinkable but I wasnt too taken with the flavours.

UPDATED: MAR 1, 2007 Cask at Duke of Ellington, Southampton. Dark brownish amber. Plenty of resiny hops. Bold salty dense malt character, yet fairly light body. Some water seem to seep through the core of dense malt. Resiny finish. Typical rough Jennings’ beer.
