Cask@oldmill, wakefield. Dark copper colour, large creamy head with good lacing. Looks great. Very little hop aroma. Taste is small amount of toffee and a dry bitterness. Too thin on the palate. Very dissapointing.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Dec 2011, the cask version I had last week was bloody awful, bland, weak and boring. Dry and fairly bitter taste, with the burnt flavour of the malts taking over from the toffee in the aroma.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tasted this in the Saltcot, Saltcoats (JDW) in December 2008. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear russet in colour with a thin creamy off white head. Maple syrup present in the short but sweet aroma. Thin creamy mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts give a moist maltloaf base with molasses and syrupy raisins. Slight note of peppery hop resins add a earthy note to the rapid bitter aftertaste. Finish is rather sweet with vinous fruit evident. An ok session ale and much better than some of the other bitters in the portfolio.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask. Tried at our family Christmas meal at the delightful Meadow inn at Ironbridge. Quite malty, without the over carbonation of the bottled version. Lingering malty bitterness. Rather pleasant.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cask - The Bell Hotel (JDW), Norwich. Fine & lasting creamy off-white, lacing head; clear, deep amber body. Caramel, mid fruits and boiled sweet aromas. Sweet, boiled malt and caramel on the tongue with some yeast & a metallic note. An average, no frills bitter that was a bit flabby & non-descript. Light to medium body, soft palate texure, short finish.
