2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 8, 2012
Dec 2011, the cask version I had last week was bloody awful, bland, weak and boring. Dry and fairly bitter taste, with the burnt flavour of the malts taking over from the toffee in the aroma.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - FEB 2, 2012
Tasted this in the Saltcot, Saltcoats (JDW) in December 2008. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear russet in colour with a thin creamy off white head. Maple syrup present in the short but sweet aroma. Thin creamy mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts give a moist maltloaf base with molasses and syrupy raisins. Slight note of peppery hop resins add a earthy note to the rapid bitter aftertaste. Finish is rather sweet with vinous fruit evident. An ok session ale and much better than some of the other bitters in the portfolio.

On cask at eagle and child, leyland. Pours brown with a lasting head. Malts, slight hint of caramel. Typical Jennings mediocrity

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Muldul (5) - West Sussex, ENGLAND - JAN 16, 2011 does not count
Nice, ""quoffable" beer, good with a meal, but a bit boring to drink in its own. Very light taste, low viscosity. I would drink it if you’re not sure what you feel like having.
