I’m so glad this ale is from the pure lake district. That makes all the difference. Its deep amber with a thick, frothy, light beige head. This beer is sweet and gummy smelling. The flavor is same as are a lot if not most of the beers in Hong Kong. That’s all I get. Old english bitter and thick guminess. I appreciate the story on the bottle but I don’t think the fact the expiry is 15 months past due will help this beer’s situation.

Nose is appealing; smoke, caramel, burnt sugar, woodchips. Appearance is a ruby red. Taste is poor relative to the exciting nose, notes of smoke, coffee, a touch of molasses, and a slight sour apple finish leading to sweetness. The nose is nice, but the taste too shallow. i suspect it suffers from being being bottled and pasteurised, I would want it draft, but would not return to the bottle quickly.

Bottle. Pours a deep clear red color with a one-finger off-white head. A bit of malt in the aroma and not much else. Taste is of malt, caramel, nuts, burned wood and smoke. The aftertaste is of malt, smoke and perhaps a bit of licorice. Very smooth and quite good.

Rödbrun öl med beige skum. Doft av malt, mörkt socker och kola. Även smaken är maltig och något för söt för mitt gillande.
