A dark beer with a reddish tinge derived from the use of coloured malts, perfectly balanced with specially formulated brewing sugars and English aromatic hops. Contains wheat.

Light malt sweetness, burned toffee and dark fruits on the nose. Low earthy, herbal hop. Biscuit, burned toffee light choc and mild roast on the palate. Firm bitterness lingers. Medium to full body. Perhaps a bit harshly bitter in the finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle - every time Iíve had this on cask before it always seems to be slightly off, so I decided itíd be a good idea to pick up a bottle. Copper coloured with a foamy cream colour head. Aroma of coffee, biscuit and cocoa. Taste of chocolate, biscuit and caramel. Medium body, light carbonation.

Bottle from Beers Of Europe [160115]
Dark copper brown, clear, frothy off white head, good lacing
Aroma of caramel, some toasted malts, dab of rust, hint of coffee roast
Taste of caramel, some spicy earthy hops, soft toasted malts, slight dark bitter chocolate, twiggy hops, dab of roast, slight dark fruits
Palate - Medium carb and body, smooth, soft bitter roast. Finish as main flavour, fairly bitter earthy tail
Overall - Less complex that I remember on cask, seems less malty.

Very thick, utterly stable, dirty-creamcoloured head over redbrown to chestnut, clear beer. Caramel, toffee and mocha, sweet. Faintly roasted. Bitterish-roasted, with burnt caramel all over, and surprisingly little sweetness, if any. Bit of parsley, and again mocha. After some time, hints at hops. Light to maybe medium body, certain slickness, feels better carbonated than it looks. Not too sweet, which is good. Still, Iím sure I would prefer a cask in the Lake District.

roasty, red, clear, tan foam, medium sweetness, medium bitterness, medium sourness, full body, thin feel, soft carbonation, an old ale if ever i had one. itís a darkish red and tastes roasty and slightly sour/fruity, . soft texture and low carbonation mean you can nail it down happily. very nice.

A reddish brown coloured beer with a thick off white head. A light malty and bready aroma. Dry mouthfeel. A dry malty taste, nutty and a hint of burnt sugar. There is a bitter hop flavour in the background. The finish is well balanced between dry malt and bitter hop.
