Red chestnut colour with almost opaque look. Slight hint of coffee with a medium thic cream coloured head. Slight bitterness with a smooth taste. Rich flavour with a complex aftertaste. Great beer.

[Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading] Chestnut with a moderate, creamy head. Wood, chocolate and coffee with a light bitterness. Mellow, indulgent and tasty, this is a lovely beerÖ but oddly itís still not a patch on the bottled version.

Dark ruby with a brown look and a thin white head. Smells of a proper old ale. Like a spirit and a malt beer. Light roast. Frothy smooth medium body. Taste of dark roast malt, dark berry, chestnut and caramel. Smooth but seems like its missing something. A little bland.

First tasted this in Coanes, Johnstone in May 1991. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear mahogany in colour with a thick creamy off white head. Strong malty aroma with sweet treacle toffee notes long in intensity. Thick creamy mouthfeel and good lacing. Mixed malts give a robust maltloaf base with molasses and prunes soaked in syrup. Good hop presence with a earthy, wet leaves and bread notes in the aftertaste. Finish is malty and robust with sweet maple syrup and walnut notes. An excellent Old Ale and worth seeking out in cask. Superb stuff.

A pint that depends upon where you have it, but itís always good at The Bank Tavern, Keswick. Dark, not quite opaque, fairly flat with a tight, small head. Roasty malt aroma and then distinct coffeeish flavour and balanced bitterness. Good brew for winter evenings

Cask@bridgehouse Belfast. Dark ruby with dense off-white foamy head. Aroma of redcurrants and malt extract. Fairly sweet with a touch of treacle. Robust mouth feel.

Brilliant beer. I love the cross-over feel of it - part traditional strong, part porter. Lots of flavour, rich and quite malty. Lovely creamy head.

Cask @ Muckle Cross, Elgin.
Dark ruby brown, rich thick white head. Very good lacing on glass.
Aroma of roasted malt, fruity, hint of chocolate and liquorice.
Taste - Malty with sweet malts, some roasted malt, molasses, hint of liquorice, dark moderately bitter chocolate, bit of coffee. Quite complex. Very good flavour.
Palate - soft carb, smooth mouthfeel, Finish of roast malt, dark bitter chocolate with a background of sweetish caramel and roasted malts.
A very well made beer, flavoursome and smooth. .In very good condition today - impressed with this one!

Bullit (4445) - Burgos, SPAIN - AUG 20, 2011
Cask @ Society Room, JDW. Brown-reddish colour, offwhite head. Nose is caramel malts, toffee, wood polish. Flavour is toffee, wood polish, bit of liquorice, nutty. Slightly bitter finish. Well done.
