COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Special - JDW Spring Fest 2010.
Hops: Bramling Cross, Goldings
This new, golden ale is named after the famous Lake District fell, Pike O’ Stickle. It has aromas of toffee and caramel, complemented by delicious fruit flavours and a malty, slightly sweet finish.

Cask-conditioned at the Staple Hill Oak (JDW), Bristol 12/04/10. Deep gold with a decent white head. Sweet malty beer, with a caramel and a hint of apricot before a short, bitter finish. Inoffensive.

On gravity at the Sir Michael Balcon (JDW), dark gold with a coarse white head and no condition at all - has this been left soft-spiled for a week?! Faint aroma of lemon floor polish, caramel and malt in the body with a slight tart fruity note. Not quite right, methinks.

12th April 2010. Clear gold beer. No head because zero carbonation! Arrrrgh! Watery malt and apologetic hop. Some sulfur provides some flavour at least. Crushingly dull bad beer.

[Cask at Monks Retreat, Reading] Pale amber, slight white head. Grass and wet leaves and grapefruit, and hops that kept repeating on me and popping up in the midst of subsequent beers. Moderately bitter, some slight sourness. I normally like Jennings beers, but something in this one didn’t work for me. That said, it certainly has more flavour than the ABV would suggest.

Hand pulled at the Billiard Hall, West Bromwich. Goodness me, a beer which prides itself on being malty... and under 4%. It must be my lucky day. I almost admire this beer for being the ale equivalent of Fosters, but really this is just a quite boring bitter.

Hand pulled cask at the JDW closest to the train station in High Wycombe. Amber gold with a thick white head. Toffee malt, a touch of diactyl and rather dusty english hops. Not an inspiational beer but a pint of it went well with my Thursday night curry club deal.

A Mes rate. Cask at the Market (No) Porter.
Darkish gold with a very thin off white head. Fairly dull malt, decent enough hops and some sweatty socks. Jennings can do better than this for certain. Boring oats and straw, some mineral character and erm... Not much else. Decent enough grassy bitterness in the finish. Just far from spectacular.

Cask at the Regal (JDW), Cambridge. Amber with a ring of white head; malty aroma; thin with light caramel malts; the finish is dry and lightly bitter. Disappointing.

UPDATED: JUL 24, 2010 JDW Sping Fest - Rochester. A pale sesion bitter with some soft, sweetish malt and a smack of citric tingly hops. Finishes dry. OK stuff, but unremarkable. [2.9] Second rating - A pleasantly fragrant pale ale with an enjoyable sweetness and an enjoyable hop finish. [3.5]
