JorisPPattyn (4262), Antwerpen, Belgium Dec 25, 2007 Very thick-set yellowish head over well-carbonated pale amber beer with a slight olive shine. Greenery, sweet roasted coffee or mocha, mocha cookies (café noir), coffee milk, roasted. Bitter dominating the background coffee/mocha taste. Bitter is too roasted for being called hoppy, but not exclusively malt-originating. More parsley interwoven with coffee biscuits. Appropriately British light MF. Reasonably original. What the link to the Liar’s competition might be? Thanks, Jezza! imdownthepub (3995), Banbury, Oxfordshire, Oxfordshire, England Nov 11, 2007 Bottled, 500ml, pasteurised, from Waitrose, Witney, Oxon. Red amber with white head. Strange one, darker body but without any roasted notes. Biscuit malty and with some hops, but quite understated with a little tinny backgound. There is some fruitiness to save the day which at least adds interest. maeib (3917), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Apr 26, 2008 Bottled. A red amber coloured beer with a short lived off-white head. A predominantly malty beer with a good dash of coffee in the aroma and some but not as much in the taste. Some woody qualities, and pretty tasty all round. Better than expected. leaparsons (3879), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Jan 23, 2008 Bottle. Bronze with an off-white head. Aromas are toffee and chocolate malts with some biscuit. Fruity with berries. Spicy, earthy hops with a goo roast character. Flavours are sweet toffee with spices and coffee. Fruity, vinous and earthy. Decent. Mungo (2474), Southampton, Hampshire, England Dec 29, 2007 Bottle. Coffee and slight chocolate roasty malts with a fruity component. A little earthy hop in the finish. A bit thin and dusty in the mouth. Some nice flavours but let down by the overall feel.
