2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Golden pour with thin white head, sugary effervescent aroma, almost like carbonated fruit juice. Taste is sweet malt then an almost metallic bitterness in the aftertaste. If the metallic/chemical overtones were not there this would be a really nice refreshing beer. The description looks completely wrong here on ratebeer as there is nothing with chocolate or almonds in the taste, and this definitely does not seem like an English strong ale (the bottle says Belgian style).

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
I was a big fan of the Jerome Negra. It might have even been the first Southern Hemisphere sourced beer I enjoyed, leading me to have high expectations for their Diablo. The 1cm dry wall gray head puffs up neatly like a slice of white bread, and from it comes a moderately hoppy aroma with plenty of white grape juice to drape the hops in a toga of calming sugar. Corn Pops and organic tahini also accompany the hops, making an overall very sweet and sticky scent. The taste is similarly sweet, but nuttier, re-introducing the tahini paste taste, along with bitter apple, mild hops, mild bitterness and a meekly acrid caramel aftertaste. Iím not enthusiastic about this beer, much preferring the Jerome Negra.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
2008 Bottle - What the hell????...Pours yellow, small head, smells like dead fish and rotten milk, flavour follows, slight bitterness, metallic, finishes with a creamy undertone, not my cup oí tea...

1.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
600ml bottle. Skunky cardboard, stewed vegetables, rotting mint and alcohol on the nose. Pours light, clear gold with a quickly disappearing white head. Has all the appearance of a slightly better than average pale lager. Flavor is hot, brash and a mess. Light hoppy notes, DMS, rotting fruit peel. Ugh... lasting, offputting wet grass finish. Not so much...

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
600ml bottle poured a clear gold with a lasting creamy white head. Aromas of straw, candi sugar, light carmel and light fruittiness. Palate was medium bodied and crisp. Flavors of bread, carmel and candi sugar with a crisp lingering bittersweet finish.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Appearance: amber color. Medium head with ivory color and some lasting.
Aroma: mainly malty smells. Some floral touches and light fruity reminiscences like papaya and peaches.
Flavor: light citric and dry start, with peel-orange and slight herbal hops touch. Dryness strengthens for the alcoholic degree.
Palate: medium body and light to median carbonation.
In overall, dryness with light chemical taste that remember me a Harboe beer.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Beautiful packageing that attracted me right away.
Confused. says "Belgium Style" on side of bottle oh well!
Clear golden beer, nice carbonantion strings and a small pure white head.
Mainlly malty aromas, with a hint of bubble gum.
Mm weird ihas a malty dry taste, spicieness , pink apples, peppery after taste, slight hops also in the finish.
Strange on the palte, but not really bad.
I dont know what to say this is a very unusual beer. I dont think it fits the ESA, but it does remind me of some Polish Mocne/Euro Strong Lagers. But then there is that slight Belgian hint now and again.

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
In the bottle from Liquor Mart, Boulder. Pours deep gold with a large white head. Flat fish-food-looking flakes float throughout the beer. Corn aroma. Malty like an American cheap malt liquor. Mild bitter finish. This is either really old and should not have been sold to me by the Liquor Mart, or it is just a crap beer in general.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours with a white, four-finger head that goes slowly to a thin layer, leaving some lace. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Crystal clear amber color. Nose is nearly balanced, some hops. Flavor is sweet but balanced with slight hoppy finish. $5.19 for a 660ml bottle from Haggens Beaverton, OR.

1.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
Nearly clear golden, fairly large and long lasting head, good lacing. After that itís all downhill. Aroma is fusel, grain, alcohol, some bread. Flavor is sugary, alcoholic, and raw despite a low level of carbonation. Nothing here makes this an ESA. Iíll go with a Euro Strong Lager or Malt Liquor. Difficult to finish.
