omhper (10456), Stockholm, Sweden Dec 28, 2006 Bottled, thanks Lilith, Nigredo & Panzerfaust! Clear golden, rich firm head. Flowery with light-medium body. The nose holds a lot of peppery alcohol. Fairly sweet. There’s butter as well as sulphur and lingonberries. Low bitterness. BückDich (4540), Boise, Idaho, USA Jun 12, 2007 Bottle: Poured a golden amber color with little head and no lacing. The nose is lightly hoppy, a bit perfumey with a bit of alcohol. Some vague hops and a bit of pale malt, I’d call this more of an american golden ale. Minerally flavor, zesty malty finish. Strong, didn’t get any of the chocolate or almond tastes. Oh well. Ernest (4229), Boulder, Colorado, USA Sep 9, 2006 Bottle.
Head is initially average sized, fizzy, white, mostly diminishing.
Body is dark yellow.
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain, husks), lightly hoppy (flowers), lightly yeasty (dough), with notes of apple peel, bubble gum, plastic, and gasoline.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately bitter, husky.
Medium body, watery texture, fizzy carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic.
Somewhat above swill, but shows a lot of the same character as a Euro strong lager or malt liquor. Not very pleasant. Lubiere (3251), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jun 10, 2006 Dark aber ale with a thin off white head. A nice biscuitty malt with faint floral hops, very pleasant. In mouth, sweet caramel malt with good floral hops, a bit thin but very decent. I would have guessed an APA. Bought in Mendoza for 7$AR, called Oscura Fuerte. bhensonb (2883), Woodland, California, USA Dec 22, 2006 Aroma of citrus hop. Light golden color. Slight white head. Starts with a bit of malt, passes through hop, and then a spiced wet paper impression. Decent mouthfeel. The sweetness reminds of belgian candy. The hop tends to drown out the paperiness. Not a sweet finish. Somewhat dry. If I tasted this blind, I’d tend to say it was a Belgian. Interesting. WIth the passage of time it takes on a mellower character. I’m wondering whether they bottled the Clara Fuerte Belgian rather than the English.
