3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Gypsy19 (728) - USA - DEC 12, 2009
25 and 2/5 ounce bottle from the Davis Co-Op. Evidently the cork problem mentioned by earlier raters has been addressed; my bottle had a simple metal cap. Pours a medium orange with a large ivory head. Aroma is of sour, naturally-fermented fruit. Also grainy and creamy aromas. Flavor again comes with a sour fruitiness, unprocessed barley, definite brettanomyces-rich finish. Soft, thick mouthfeel, good carbonation. Not a bad ale at all... Not what I expected, but a quite pleasant ale and an entertaining experience nevertheless. Overall, very good.

2nd April 2009 Hazy amber - gold beer. Low carbonation. Slightly syrupy palate. Flavour is that of a tinned super strong lager but perhaps slightly more deft! Subtle brandy and a mildy spicy aniseed finish. Crisp finish with a warming afterglow. Not a subtle beer!

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 kramer (3459) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 7, 2009
25 oz bottle. Son of a bitchin’ bitch! The rubbery plastic cork in this thing was all but impossible the get out of the damn bottle! Holy hell, thank god I had a lever style corkscrew for this. Pours a slightly hazy dark gold body with a small fizzy white head that vanished quickly. Lots of fine carbonation. At first sniff I’m getting a slightly alarming apple cider note, there’s some other pleasant fruitiness as well, so it’s not all bad. Some nail polish like alcohol notes. Not much in the way of yeast influence. Thankfully there doesn’t seem to be anything really "off" in the flavor. I was half expecting a sour infected mess. Instead I just get a big, muddled, alcohol-bomb of a mess. There’s some murky fruitiness, heavy bready thick malt, and a very prominent alcohol flavor that dominates over everything else. It’s as though they just added a ton of sugar instead of using a huge malt bill, causing this big alcohol without the body or flavor to back it up. Even the yeast doesn’t really make much of an impact, and that’s what I think should be the trump card for an Abbey Tripel. Mouthfeel is rather heavy and flabby with way too much alcohol warmth. Fairly decent light carbonation level. Overall, not too pleasant of a drink, but it did lend to creating a pleasant buzz.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 marcus (4065) - Sacramento, California, USA - MAY 5, 2009
Having read the other reviews, I had no trouble removing the cork with my trusty vicegrip. If the brewer is reading this, please stop using those plastic corks. It poured very golden with a nice frothy off-white head. The aroma is fruity and yeast-like. Very pleasant. I sure wish it tasted as good as it looks and smells. The flavor has some nice candi sugar, but is a bit skunky, like rotten fruit, with too much alcohol taste.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 BuckeyeBoy (2147) - Boise, Idaho, USA - SEP 17, 2008
Bottle. pours out a gold topped with a white head. Aroma of spice and plenty of yeast. Also some of the ABV. Tast some sweetness and plenty spice. This Brew may have helped my ideas of beer from Argentina.

Though the name is pretty...lofty, the Golden Archangel from Jerome has little of the substance its title implies. A fuzzy head gives rise to a tingling head, like Sprite, with muscular lacing attached to the glass from top to bottom. The color is a mix of orange and peach, with a blush of pink in the light and a bevy of bubbles clinging desperately to the edge of the glass. As per the style, the aroma is light and refreshing, delicately hopped and an equally delicate sweetness. Wildflowers and a light cotton candy add depth to this breezy scent. The flavor is abruptly more intense, with vast volumes of alcohol drowning out most everything else. White grapes and a brie cheese bitterness make a feeble attempt at the start of the sip, but are ultimately squelched under the deluge of alcohol. Way too strong! TOo much alcohol, too little anything else.
1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 waolsen (1300) - Littleton, Colorado, USA - MAY 1, 2008

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Ernest (5187) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 20, 2008
Bottle.
Head is initially small, fizzy, white, mostly diminishing.
Body is dark yellow.
Aroma is lightly malty (grain, caramel), lightly hoppy (herbs), with notes of apple, candy sugar, and alcohol.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately to heavily bitter, unclean.
Medium body, watery texture, lively/fizzy carbonation, moderately alcoholic.
Pretty disappointing...grainy, appley nose and a foul, rough, overly bitter aftertaste. Crude, almost like a ruined cider.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Ratman197 (5944) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - DEC 30, 2007
750 ml bottle that was hell to open as per earlier rerviews poured a clear gold with a small lasting white head. Aromas of straw, candi sugar, yeast and a hint of corn. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. Flavors of straw, candi sugar, light fruitiness, vanilla and a hint of spice with a smooth lingering semisweet finish. More of a Belgian Golden Ale than a Quad in my opinion.
