Pours a very thin layer khaki head that fades quickly leaving traces lace. Deep brown almost black color, no highlights. Little carbonation and medium bodied. Nose is malty sweet, flavor is almost sweet malty coffee. $5.99 for a 22oz bottle from Julio’s Liquors Westborough, Ma.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Lilith (242) - Santiago, CHILE - JUN 28, 2007
Small brown head, fastly diminishing head. Black colored. Sweet aroma of coffee, burnt sugar, smocked. Light body, bitter strong flavor, somewhat oily and flowery.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 VerticalBaconStrips (1898) - Assat, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 25, 2009
Poured out a black brew with a decent sized dark chocolate mild brown cap that is a bit fizzy but it stays as more than a skim.. barely. Very good sticky lacing. Coffee wafts through my nose, heavily roasted, ashes are prominent, foot, some citrus and candy. Massive roast taste. Instant alcohol and more ashes, chocolate, odd spice that is like a cinnamon / licorice hybrid, some coffee. Too ashy and too much alcohol but it’s a really good beer. Dark fruit. Thick mouth feel, burnt log residue cannot be shaken, heavy after taste that fades to just burnt logs. Logs.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 trevor211 (1187) - Seattle, Washington, USA - NOV 29, 2008
Pours black, with a light tan head that lingers. Smokey, dark malts in the aroma. More molasses than chocolate or coffee, but the smoke is definitely there. Flavor is very smokey as well, and slightly meaty - like (real) beef jerky. Lots of carbonation, which keeps it from being as smooth as I think it would otherwise be, and believe it or not, the alcohol comes through - even at 6.5%. It’s an interesting attempt, and certainly far better than anything I had while I was in the Andes!
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Butters (3323) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - MAY 3, 2009
Bottle shared at Butter’s Big Cellar Blowout. Near black pour with ring of dark tan head. Lightly smoked aroma follows in flavor. Nice and roasty. A little cardboard. but still enjoyable, despite being a little cloying on the palate. I liked this more than the other people in the party, but it wasn’t stellar.
3.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Contrucci (17) - CHILE - FEB 15, 2008
330 cc. Bought in the brewery. Great. Nice color, solid and persistent foam. Sweet and bitter. Excelent at room temperature. Touchs of Coffee, chocolate and liquor. Creamy. Close to a Lambic.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 BuckeyeBoy (2178) - Boise, Idaho, USA - AUG 5, 2007
Bottle Pours out a nice black topped with a tan head. Nice aroma of roast malt and a little coffee. Tast not to bad gets a little better when it warms up. Pretty plane overall. But hey its from Argentina.
3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 mobster07 (18) - Portland, Oregon, USA - NOV 17, 2006
Chocolate, roast and a little sweetness in the aroma. Opaque black with a very small diminishing head (unfortunate). Flavor was pretty good with roasty malt and some chocolate, a hint of bitterness, some citrus notes, and as it warms some smokes sneaks in there. The body was refreshingly light but it was astringent. Overall a somewhat drinkable hybrid stout/porter IMHO.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Panzerfaust (539) - Hanga Roa, Easter Island, CHILE - NOV 3, 2006
Pours an opaque, pitch black color. Small light brown head. It dissapears fast and leaves a medium lacing.
Aroma is full of coffee grains, very malty, burnt with espresso notes. There is also some smokey, roasted traces. I think I’m smelling a strong, bold cup of Arabica coffee.
Flavor is as the aroma, very coffee-ish, with some espresso, mokka and capuccino. Sweet subtleties but bitter overall. Pretty nice.
Body is medium, texture is watery. Low carbonation. Chalky finish. This is a good but sadly unbalanced stout.
Bought in Mendoza, Argentina

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 presario (4406) - Stampede City, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 18, 2009
660ml bottle with annoying plastic wrap around the white cap. Super fizzy brown head disappears in a rush of noise leaving a quiter (but not quiet) black beer. Served cold there is a strong molasses aroma with some licorice and smokiness. As the beer warms chocolate scents mix nicely with the molasses and a light skiff is maintained while the fizz of the carbonation continues. Dark flavour, some sweetness, dry finish. As the beer warms the body fills out. A decent tasty chocolate, molasses and licorice mix with a certain woodiness. I think best at cellar temperature rather than cold. The serving temp has a big effect on this beer.
