stoutlover72 (1320), NorCal, California, USA Apr 10, 2008 I can’t really say why I plunked down nearly $7.00 for this bottle. Maybe it was because it was new? Perhaps because it looked cool? And if I had remembered my beginning h.s. Spanish 101, I would have remembered this was a red ale. Which means it was probably gonna suck. And while the end result wasn’t suckage, it was far, far from greatness.
The beer pours out dark copper colored beer, mostly clear with a very smallish sized head. Aroma of apples/cider was most prominent, with a touch of caramel and aspirin infused water. Flavors were metallic, slight nutty bitterness and that’s about where the show ends. Way over-carbonated for my liking, it was almost like hearing someone pour a soft-drink there was so much noise. Pass.
heemer77 (3634), Savannah, Missouri, USA Apr 30, 2008 Light copper colored body with a large slightly off white head. The aroma has some notes of sweet pancakes and pears. Ther eis also a hint of cinnamon. The taste has some light notes of caramel and apples. There is a definite wlanut pancake character here. Lightly hopped, this is sweet and smooth. Lightly carboanted, and decent. davidpl (397), Santiago, Chile Apr 13, 2008 Appearance: amber color. Great head with beige color, lasting and some rocky.
Aroma: caramel malty, lightly yeasty and some honey’s and dried-peach’s reminiscences.
Flavor: light sweet and some candy from crystal malts. Reminiscences of honey, peaches, red-apples and light butterscotch. Medium-dry finish from hops with medicinal touches.
Palate: medium body. Medium carbonation.
Maybe the nicest Jerome’s beer. tytoanderso (1177), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA Mar 17, 2008 600ml bottle. Thought it couldn’t get any worse that the Diablo... well, this one’s better... only marginally so, though. Smells alright, looks ok, but absolutely falls apart on the tongue. An absolute mess of a beer. Loads of diacetyl, harsh malt, past prime hops. Ugh... Angeloregon (1829), Portland, Oregon, USA Jan 5, 2008 Poured a hazy amber with a bustling head of white that settled down rather quickly. Sticky, sweet, malty nose with a nice bubblegum candy presence. Floral and moderately bitter in the finish. I really loved the nose and finish. I can’t believe as I am rating this that it received such a low score from folks.
