3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
33cl Bottle from an EKO shop. Typical abbey dubbel imho. Dark brown, beige head. Aroma of brown sugar, burnt sugar, dark fruits, light-spicy yeast. Flavour is the same, hint of cocoa, light floral, bittersweet finish. Light to medium-bodied. Very bland, and a bit too sweet for me.

33cl - brown dubbel. nose is malty and really simple, taste is simple but nice for this style, typical cara-malt and brown sugar tastes. the problem is the extremely watery body.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Clear reddish brown with off-white head. Roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate, spices and some raisins. Sweet at first but with a big bitter kick. Medium bodied, nice, almost chewy carbonation but a slightly thin feel at first. Gets better after it’s been in the glass a while. Overall quite nice.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Stubby 330 ml bottle as BRWN, poured into a trappist glass. ABV 7%
Light mahogany brown colour on the body, light beige head on top. Good sized, kind of thin but with very good retention and nice formed lacing left on the glass.
Aroma of caramel, malts, a bit grainy, raisins, plums.
Taste follows the aroma, only more fruity now, the caramel more intense, some light roasted malts. Fruity aftertaste with a touch of bubblegum. Mildly bitter.
Medium body, good carbonation.
Overall quite good, from the first sniffs I wasn’t too excited but after it breathed a bit, it turned out to be actually nice.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
33cl bottle. Hazy brown with medium and tanned head. Nose : caramel, burned ginger bread, chocolate, yeast. Sip : good carbonation, creamy body. The beer is medium sweet with roasted malt notes. It's well balanced and easy to drink. The finish is almost dry with still dominating and really interesting roasted cookie and chocolate feeling. Quite interesting. Certainly not a bad beer.
