COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
English Imperial Stout meets the Franco-Belgian Farmhouse tradition in this dry, drinkable beer; Pitch black in color with notes of chocolate, roasted and black malts coupled with earthy, peppery and floral farmhouse esters.

Note: This Farmhouse version replaced the original Black Metal Imperial Stout when Jester King switched to a farmhouse yeast for all beers. The original bottles feature a small Jester King sticker on the neck; newer bottles do not have this sticker and say "Farmhouse" in small print on the label.

Pours black and smells of rich chocolate and dark roasty malt. Slightest bit of tartness, but not like funk metal. Taste is dark cocoa laden chocolate. Too soft of carbonation as it was prepoured into a pitcher and then my glass, but still tasty and much better than funk metal, I thought. Would be even better with spot on carbonation.

Big light brown fizzy mediumlasting head. Aroma is loaded with Co2 stinging in the nose, followed by sour coffee, sour dark fruits, burnt caramel, dark malts, ashtray, sugar. Taste is sour-ish burnt, sour coffee, burnt caramel, ashtray, grass, yeast, hay, licorice, dark fruits, yeast. Medium bitterness, dry harsh watery mouthfeel, high carbonation. Meh!

Bottle, shared with BBGTC. Pours a jet black body with a huge farmhouse-style foamy beige head. Nose is coffee, licorice, red fruits, straw, weird over-carbonated sour-ish tones and hints of dark chocolate. Taste is chocolate, coffee, sour-ish grainy notes, dry straw, hints of chalk, biscuits and ashes. Medium body, high carbonation. The over-carbonation factor plays in on this, creating a very volatile mix of flavors in high gear. Nice enough though.

Pours black with a dark tanned head. Aroma is slightly acidic with loads of roasted malts, hints of leather. Taste is coffee, roasted malts, leather and tar. Slightly sweet with a semi-dry finish. Hints of the farmhouse yeasts, but its mostly subdued by roast and alcohol. Body is close to full with a fizzy palate.

Totalt svart med ett stort, mörk brunt skum. Doft: Funk, kakao, gräs, kaffe, örter, alkohol, pralin butik, jord. Smak: Örter, gräs, kakao, kaffe, rostat korn, malt, alkohol, humle (ej beska), citrus. Mogen, trevlig bekantskap som nog växer med åldern.

And exiting and amazing looking beer, if a bit confusing with its farmhouse meets imperial stout style. What I feel this does is make the stout part subdued and less aggressive, which is fine, but it clashes a bit with my expectations. All that said, this is an exiting meld of the furious and the mild, and a beer I had such an amazing time discovering.

Pours a black color with off-white head. Has barnyard funk, chocolate, and earth on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a yeasty note, somewhat chewy too.

Tap at the brewery. Black with murky tan head. Oak on the nose with a shedload of chocolate and spices, some tobacco too. Big lush chocolate in the taste, big roastiness, then some really floral yeasty ester action kicks in. Oak, prunes and woody spice. More chocolate, light vinous notes. Spritzy carb. Lingering chocolate, roasted malt, and light floral yeastiness. Tasty impy - very different to most.

On tap at the brewery. Opaque black body sprouts foamy tan head. Beady lace all up in my glass.

Roasted malts meet toffee. Surprisingly tannic, though doesn't taste like there's any cross-contamination here. Oaky, boozy, and a touch funky too. Really wish they'd return to the English yeast with this one because the farmhouse yeast produces an inferior product. Oh well.

Flaske delt med esp0r.very slow gusher. Svart uklar farge. Enorm skumtopp som forsvinner etterhvert.lavt karbonert.smaker røyk, røstet malt, sjokolade,lakris, rødvin, tre, jord, rød frukter. En kompleks øl med mange spennede innslag
