COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Boxer’s Revenge is inspired by the hearty “stock ales” or “provision ales” produced by some of iconic farmhouse breweries located along the Franco-Belgian border and named in honor of the stalwart workhorse in George Orwell’s Animal Farm. It combines delicate notes of tropical fruit, citrus and spice from the primary French farmhouse yeast with tart, rustic, earthy notes from the Brettanomyces. A final dry-hopping with fresh Cascade and Centennial hops adds yet another layer of depth and complexity.

A selfish pour from 750 bottle into my trusty JK snifter. Primarily orange with gold edges. Topped by a few large bubbles, but no fine carbonation or head to speak of. A hearty swirl brings a few bubbles back to the top, but they fade quickly. Smells of sour funk, pineapple, whiskey, orange and vanilla. Taste is warm whiskey, hay, sour apple, earth, ripe red grape, barely sour pucker at the end. This would be an outstanding beer with reasonable carbonation (a sparkly finish). More time in the bottle would be quite advantageous, too.

Bottle: Poured a hazy blonde color ale with a medium size foamy head with limited retention and not much lacing. Aroma of tart and oak notes with some light funky ester is quite nice. Taste is also dominated by tart and oak notes with some funky ester with low level of acidity. Hops presence had pretty much disappeared which is no surprised considering the age of the bottle. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Quite complex beer that retained some good drinkability.

Tap at CBC 2014. Beer in the glass brownish, nice head. Starts quite sourish, bitter, grasy and dry. Light fruity notes. Finish with more bitter notes. Okay.

Bottle(RBESG 2014 Grand Tasting): Golden, hazy, small stable white head; hints of vanilla (wood) and yeast in the solid sour nose; moderate sour and astonishingly also a bit sweet flavour, medium bodied; some alcohol detectable in the quite well balanced sour and mildly sweet-malty finish. Nice, nice…

Bottle at Paul’s. Poured an orange bidy with a smaller fizzy white head. Aroma was bad, notes of urinal puck, funk, earthiness, acorns, lemons and band aids. Slightly thinner body with a harsh acidic burn despite creamy carbonation. Flavor is better than the aroma, notes of lemons, earth, toast, slight vinegar and funk. Meh

Bottle at home, from an IP trade with a Texan dood, 02/08/14. Dark orange/amber with a decent light beige covering that dissipates after a short stay. Nose is musty grape, funk-me-up, barnyard, musty orchard, dank wood, citric tinges. Taste comprises tangy white wine wood, yeast, green apple core, moderate acidic vibe, funky farm stuff, earthy, lemon pang. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, sour mash and bretty notes in the close. Solid BA sour.
