4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Absoultely loved this from cask at the Draught House in Austin. Presentation is like an English real ale, with the same free-drinking body. But the sour twists and the beautifully accenting hops make this rare and wonderful - - an exciting play on a variety of understated themes - - sort of a farmhouse ESB saison barleywine. I would give anything to have this stuff in the fridge, or otherwise handy, but I don’t think they bottle it, and I live in Wisconsin.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours reddish with a white head. The aroma has berries, vinegar, big maltiness for a sour ale, lemons and some cherries. It has a fairly full body with semi-sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with thick chewy bready malt, cherries, vinegar, caramel and spices. The finish shows some oxidation and sourness. Tastes a bit like an American strong ale that has gone sour. Pretty good.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml bottle from Errl from way back. Thanks dude! Pours a hazy copper color with a white head of foam. Good retention. The aroma has notes of grapefruit pith, pineapple, and must. The taste is a touch astringent, but the pineapple tanginess wins out. Nicely sour. Medium body and medium carbonation.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Stumbled across an old bottle of this and was glad I did. Nice strong earthy and wood aromas. Bold flavors of oak, must, sour grains and funk with a mix of fruit. Great balance with a smooth and dry finish. Complex.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Batch 5 Sept 5, 2013
Pours amber hazed with an etched top. Smells spicy, touch of licorice, some sage - dig it. Flavor is tits: spicy once again, some aspirin, some grain, some apricot, a bit of tartness. Again, nice. Mouth is medium on thin with some limited carb (partly due to my constant stirring and sniffing). I like this beer. It reminds me of some of the Upright beers, I know I like it, but I can’t tell you exactly what makes me love it.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
2011 bottle shared. Reddish orange pour, not much head, v light carb. Nose is sour and dirty - big barnyard, big woody notes, sour citrus and earth. Taste gives big woody earthy funk, some red berries, citrus, big Bretty tang. Rough sour finish, lingering wood, spruce and Brett. A big sour punch to the face, remember enjoying younger bottles more, but still very good.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle: Completely opaque sunburst with orange around the edges. Almost reaches brown at the center. Three-quarter inch eggshell head reduces quickly, not leaving much behind. Kind of an ugly beer, really. Aroma has a nice bout of tart & funk up front. Wet hay, apple skins, vinous booze, oak, lactic acid, white grape, mild horseblanket, & some leathery must. Taste is quite heavy for a wild ale. Strong wine-akin booziness that sits heavy in the belly. Warming. Didn’t realize this was 10.2% ABV at first (this was an early batch). Notes of green apple skin, mild tropical fruit, grapes, sour lacto, hints of white vinegar, wet oak, a touch of leathery barn funk, & even a very slight hint of whiskey. Thick, robust mouth feel, medium-high carbonation. All in all, pretty tasty, but maybe just a bit heavy for the style.
