4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Even better than the original, IMO, thanks to the bit of funky fruitiness from the farmhouse yeast. Dark and oily with coffee and chocolate.

Bottle. Pitch black with a thick chocolate milk colored head. Aroma is fruity with a chocolatey backbone. Taste is fruity up front, almost like raspberries, finishing with prominent notes of fudge, roasted malt and smoke. Medium mouthfeel and strong carbonation for the style. Incredibly unique and delicious.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Solid big stout with slight funk. Jet black, brown head, nice lacing. Smell is roasty cocoa, coffee, vanilla, and a touch of farmhouse yeast. Taste is big and rich with stout flavors up front and a touch of funk at the end. I was hoping for something a bit more wild, but it’s very good as a stout -- just slightly disappointing if you’re looking for something more challenging.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pitch black, large tan head. Dry chocolate, espresso, fruity esters from the farmhouse, and a pronounced nutty quality. Super dry and light on its feet. Really interesting take on the imperial stout style, definitely both unique and well executed.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A large pale tan head covers the pitch black pour, seemingly viscous. Spicy phenols provide peppery notions that add texture and punctuate the otherwise beefy dark malt aroma - chocolate, charcoal, almost inky malts. Not much fruitiness for all its farmhousey connotations. Plenty of small sediments in the bottle though. Its yeast manages to amplify the apparent attenuation, making for a dryish impy. Thick impy, an impression that the high carbonation and low residual sugars manage to tone down, but still plenty of roasted malt bitterness. Whilst this is something I would normally appreciate, it feels as if the malt complexity suffers and to me, there is not much point to drinking a 9%+ ale that is not either very focused or captivatingly complex.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20

750 ML. Damn. That’s black. Like, Norwegian night black. Dark brown light frothy head. Has a prune and cough syrup aroma. Has a good carbonated start which I didn’t expectct from the pour. Goes from slightly sweet to a palate covering dark malt and still a bit of prune feel. Fucking metal.
