Appearance: Pours a dark brown with a subsided tan head.
Aroma: Roasted dark malt, coffee, mineral.
Taste: Burnt roast, dark chocolate, black coffee, peppery hops, finishes burnt roasty.
Mouthfeel: Rough lively carb. Full bodied.
Overall: I was amazed at how much changing the yeast changed this particular beer. I think I like the original better, but by no means is this inferior.

Dark brown/black color. Mild aromas, roasted malt, some floral/grass hints. Taste is roasted malt, mild chocolate, some herbal, grass and yeast hints. Bitter, roasted finish.
P.S. Took me a while to figure out if this was the correct batch, since the tasting was 1.5 years ago, but after some research I’m 99% sure this is the one.

0.75l bottle from Barley Wine, batch #15. After leaking a good glass or so in my suitcase on the trip back from Copenhagen due to a bad cap, this one pours a jet-black body with a strange dark chocolaty bubbly and kinda foamy head. The aroma has clear oxidized tones, but it’s also really filled with lovely licorice, roasted malts, chocolate and there is some mild faint acidity all the way in the back. Was not expecting it to have much carbonation left, but there is definitively some left in here. The mouthfeel is oily and not as viscous as I had hoped, but all in all nice enough. The flavors are definitely on the extreme oxidized-side and really dominated by roasted chocolate malts and some salty licorice. Tones of alcohol lingering in the light warming dark chocolaty aftertaste. Yeah, clearly affected by the fact that there has been a leakage, but still a really nice one! 01.07.2012

Pours pitch black, with a fluffy brown head.
Roasted, spicy aroma, coffee, earth, chocolate, caramel, light phenols, faint hops.
Off-dry, medium to full bodied, mid bitterness, balanced CO2.
Roasted, spicy, lightly phenolic taste, chocolate, coffee, caramel, earth, ashes. Feels rather uncomplex, I get a "home brew" feel from this. Not overly impressed. (2016-06-05)

(Jester King Black Metal Farmhouse Imperial Stout ) Bottle 750 ml at home, batch #13, March 2013. Served into a snifter, ABV 9.3%
Pitch black coloured body with a tall and very thick dark brown head on top, with excellent retention.
Nice aroma with roasted malts, milky and dark chocolate, light funk.
Great taste, lots of roasted malts, coal, some chocolate, ash, only a hint of funk,well hidden alcohol.
Medium thick body, nicely carbonated, quite dry on the palate.
Very tasty and dangerously drinkable, also so much better than the one I had almost a year ago (batch 16+).

Boise Imperial Stout Tasting. Brown pour with a thin ring of light brown head. Nose is roasty and dark chocolate, light hints of the farmhouse yeast. Flavor is sweet and mild bitters, sort of floral and earthy. Enough dark chocolate and roast to add some robustness to the brew. Goes well with the yeast.

Bottle shared at tasting. Dark pour, tan coarse head. Funky smell, with notes of chocolate and cocoa. Sour with lactic acidity, chocolate, cocoa and coffee. Medium body with high acidity.

Black color with brown head. Aroma has tart and roasty notes with a bit of caramel. Taste starts tart with dark fruit notes, roasted malts and a bit of coffee on the finish. Medium body and carbonation. Really nice combination of tart flavors and roastiness.

2013 batch bottle, poured a deep black colour with a two finger tanned head. Nose is fairly sweet instead of farmhouse, maybe because of the age? Who knows. Lots of dominant chocolate in the nose, sweeter toasted malts. Raisins, good amount of red fruits when it opens. Graham cracker dryness, slight yeast finish. Nice basic stout

Bottle. Pours black with nice brown head. Nose is great roast with some chocolate. Taste is similar. Pretty good.
