There is an idea here. Some wya to bring out the grass and pine of an IPA and mix it with the earth and hay of a funky wild ale. As it stands it’s a bit too IPA. but interesting, and it has the home brewer in me wondering.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Unusual beer this one. Very farmhous driven yet hoppy as well. Huge unmistakeable notes of lemon rind throughout the beer. Very bready on the nose. Sweet bread though, like brioche - sweet and buttery. Chardonnay like. pine driven hops force their way in there as well. Bread comes through in the taste but the real winner here is lemon. Like lemon cake with lemon rind as a decorator on top. Wouldn’t surprise me if Sorachi Ace has been used. Chewy and spritzy carbonation. Very unique and summer driven stuff

Bottle. Just hazy gold with a large white head. Aroma is bready with moderate funk, grapefruit flesh, lemon zest, coriander, flowers. Taste has sweet grain, sourish bread dough, lemony funk, spicy bitterness. Spices linger. Again, a really interesting beer and one where they’ve clearly done what they set out to do. The balance between the disparate elements is impressive. But why they are all brought together is a lot less clear. Like an overture fight in the orchestra pit: very intriguing but the curtain stays down.

(3/2012) .75 bottle. Amber hazy. This was a pretty good ale. Belgian yeast, some funk. Choriander seeds. A bit of darkish bready malts.

On tap at Churchkey during CBC week. Pours a hazy burnt orange with some spitty, white head. Nose of wood, rotten apples, stale malt, orange. Flavor of stale malt, light wood, dried orange. Nasty. Sweet finish.

Aroma is very floral, noble hop aroma with some rye. Taste is rye tang with some bitterness up front, hop flavor and some farmhouse funk and spice. This one is extremely well balanced, probably the best rye beer I’ve had.

Tap at Churchkey for CBC thanks to nimbleprop and nmann08. Listed as "Wild Wytchmaker". Low haze, deeper orange pour. Medium foam. Nose is sticky oranges, celery, strawberry candy. Taste is tart strawberry, minerally, minty. Lighter, aerated body.

Bottled as Jester King Wytchmaker Organic Farmhouse Rye I.P.A. Hazy golden color, short white head. Aroma of fruity hops, some pine, grapefruit. Slight woody, but the farmhouse yeast is quite soft. Great soft bitter taste, full bodied. Easy to drink. Great balance. Lovely stuff.

750ml bottle in a tulip. Pours deep copper/brown with a lacy, light beige head. Aroma of piney and floral and citrusy hops with a little rye spiciness and light fruits from the yeast plus a good amount of caramel and pale malts. Flavor the same with a nice blend of everything. Average to smooth texture. An interesting IPA.
