My Bottom Line:
Crushed blueberries, lemon zest, bubblegum and black grapes coalesce before moving into a lactic and citric finish.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the blackness.
-This is quite the unique brew! And it’s so harmonious. Kudos to Jester King!
-A touch of coffee is found here and there, behind the fruitiness.
-The mouthfeel is engaging, easygoing, despite the intensity and the otherworldliness of the experience.

CBC 2013. Pours pitch black with no head. Aroma is sour fruity roasted ashy. Flavor is as aroma, thin body, lemon juice sour.

Sampled during CBC 2013 and a couple of months later from a 750mL bottle thanks to djd07! Shared with all of my Midwest friends during our annual beach trip (we always crack the latest from the "metal" series). Dark pour with a big tan head that sticks and laces well. Funk and sour acidity on the aroma, a hint of acetic aspects, a touch of roast - somewhat light, not bad, but not complex, a touch disappointing. Awesome flavor - reminds of a really dark Flanders. Cherry, oak, a bit of vinegar, on top of chocolate, cocoa, a hint of roast, sour acidic and acetic aspects. Nice. Really enjoyed this one!

750 ml bottle shared. Bit of a gusher. Pours a dark brown to black with a beige head of foam. The aroma has funk and roast. Tastes tart and roasty.

Draft beer @ The Beer temple (Amsterdam). Black with just a tiny head. Beer smells after coffee, chocolate, cherries and roasted malt. The sourness is much stronger than you would expect from the smell, but it combines wonderfully well with the stout. Nice balanced with a with a taste that stays in your mouth for long.

Bottle:   Yep, thats a black sour alright.   Moderate to large beige head, foamy, with nice lacing.   Tart woody nose.   Does have a slight roasted malt aspect.   Somewhat beside myself, roasted malts along with a sour nose.   What is the world coming to?   Sour and woody on the tongue, soft roasted malts.   Thats pretty much it.   Odd to get some sort of roasted malts in there.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Tart woody finish.   Decent sour ale, not sure why a Stout was used, but it somewhat works.   Sourness drops off quickly at the finish, remains a little dry and tart.   Fighting so grim, so true, so real!

750mL thanks to djd07. Great tan sheety lacing atop a deep cola brown pour. Nose is spot on for "sour stout" with roast, cranberry, chocolate, hefty vanilla in there to boot. More like a cranberry chocolate muffin. Taste is a clean dark sour/Flemish red with cranberry, bitter chocolate bitter, vanilla bean oil. Bright, mild cranberry acidity matches with dusty cocoa powder for a German chocolate cake like mix. Really nice; much better than expected.

Pours black with a thin brown head. Roasty, sour green apple aroma. The roasty flavor that hits you is immediately covered with sourness. I did not expect the sour to blend well with the roastiness of the a stout but it does. It makes for a very refreshing, extremely dark beer.

Un gâteau forêt noire acidulé et hyper atténué, ce qui laisse le caractère de la stout assez enfoui, finale lactique.
