Bottle. Nice head with good duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste are sour malt, lactose acid, brett, roast malt, chocolate, coffee and hops. Weird with a sour stout, but still good.

Bottle thanks to BlackIPA, thanks a lot! Gusher. Pour is black with a small tan head that leaves good lacing. Nose of roasted malt and coffee, some fruitiness/sourness. Taste is lightly lactic, acid with a good but not overpowering roasted malt presence. Lightly bitter also. Carbonation level was medium-high. Not bad at all, seems like these sour stouts can’t always be stellar though.

pours almost clear dark brown with a nice light beige head, some retention and lacing. bourbony cocoa beans, red wine notes, coffee, tart dark berries, light acidity, bit of metal and leather. moderate carbonation, faint funk, light to medium body, some sweetness, lightly lactic and bitter coffee finish. it seems like i was the only one enjoying it.. oh well, more for me.

Bottle 750ml. Pours with a gusher. Black with medium beige head. Nice lacing. Aroma is of roasted malt, coffee (cold), slight weird stuff (off? Mild Infection?). Taste is of roasted malt, chocolate, sourness, fruits. Palate: Medium-full bodied. Overall: Not too interesting. Metallic? (uh uh!). Roastiness is there for sure. Not too sure if this beer is under control however. It does smell weird.

Bottle (750 ml). Shared by mathieuc, thanks! Gusher. Dark brown with a small beige head and good lacing. Aroma is of roasted malt, balsamic notes, light fruits, vegetal and metallic notes and some chocolate. Taste is slightly sweet with roasted malt, moderate sourness, some fruits and light oak presence. It’s better than aroma because the vegetal and metallic taste are less presents (almost not there). Medium body. Good carbonation. Subpar dark Sour Ale and subpar for a Jester King sour because of the metallic and vegetal taste, but also because of a lack in balance and complexity. It’s definitely not an easy style (dark sour) to handle.

(Draught at Beer Temple, Amsterdam, 25 July 2013) Black colour with brief, beige head. Malty, roasted, funky nose with coffee, chocolate, wild yeast and barnyard. Roasted, malty, tart taste with notes of balsamic vinegar, coffee, dark chocolate, oak wood, funky yeast and a dry, tart finish with a slightly roasty bitterness. Almost full body. Dry and sour. This really is quite different, possibly not loved by everyone, but in my opinion very tasty, surprisingly well balanced and quite lovely. And when Rage Against the Machine started coming out of the speakers ... perfection was close. Lovely beer!

Pours deep black with a huge light tan head (gushes a bit). Pretty lacing. Smell is faint roast and a lot of lactic sour. Taste stronger roast up front, leading in to a dry tartness. Nice roast on the finish, the sour doesn’t dominate the flavor. Very drinkable. Smooth. Good beer.

Sample from a 750ml bottle. Gusher bottle. Dark brown color. Good thin light brown head. Little ropes of lace. Very tart taste. Bigger body. Lighter carbonation. Some roast malt. Chocolate. Bitter hops. Lightly sticky finish. Decent sour stout.
