COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mad Meg is simple in terms of ingredients with French pilsner malt, wheat, a touch of caramunich and acidulated malt, Czech Saaz hops and our farmhouse yeast. It is golden colored and quite strong at over 9% ABV. The palate intertwines delicate farmhouse esters with earthy, spicy hops and clean malt flavors.

A - Pours a cloudy golden-orange with a finger of frothy off-white head. The head fades down very slowly leaving behind some nice lacing in the process. S - Aroma is a mix of citrus, with some lemon zest, sweet caramel malt, farmhouse yeast esters with some spice, some floral hops, funk, and bread. T - Starts off with some citrus flavors with some lemon peel, with some sweet caramel malts and some spicy yeast esters. Through the middle, some light barnyard funk comes through with some more yeast esters, floral hops, and some light bitterness. The finish is a mix of yeast esters, with some citrus and floral hops, sweet bready malts, and a touch of booze. M - Medium-plus bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a estery, sweet, and dry finish. D - Very drinkable. Really nice yeast character forward beer. The malt and the other flavors keeps up well making for a nicely balanced beer.

Bottle. Pours a hazy copper with a big white head. Aroma banana peel, spice, a little funk, and some breadiness. Taste is earthy, some farmhouse funk, some sweet fruit, and some clove. Medium body and smooth on the palate. Another good one.

Sampled at the Big Texas Beer Fest. The beer pours a hazy yellow-orange color with a white head. The aroma is fairly complex, with some biscuit, grass, earth and a little bit of tartness and funk. The flavor is very similar. There is a strong Belgian yeast component to the flavor which is complimented nicely by some herb, floral, earth and some light citrus notes. There is also a little bit of tartness, but not near as much as you would get in the sour. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

A rich orange color with a pure white head. The aroma is sweet citrus and mild hop spiciness. The flavor starts like a mixture of orange and grapefruit juice and turns to a dry citrus zest finishing with an effect making you thirsty for the next sip. Quite possibly my favorite beer from Jester King, esp. on this mild spring day.

Bottle through Rare Beer Club as an additional purchase offering: Pours cloudy caramel orange, pillowy off white head, lots of lacing. Nose is honey, yeast funk, barnyard, earth and grain. more of the same on the palate, subtle sweet malts with silky smooth mouthfeel and modest carbonation. Slightly sour finish. Real pleasant and sessionable but watch out due to ABV. Sneaky good.

750 into Jester King Sniffer O_o. First and foremost.... Holy head Batman (you see what I did there). but seriously. 4+ fingers of head, I coulda poured with more care, but I didn’t just dump it either. Dies down moderately fast. Hazy golden amber color. Smells kinda cereal/barnyardy. Wee bit of alcohol burn, very sweet. Smooth and well carbonated. Overall an enjoyable beer, though not really my style.
