COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mad Meg is simple in terms of ingredients with French pilsner malt, wheat, a touch of caramunich and acidulated malt, Czech Saaz hops and our farmhouse yeast. It is golden colored and quite strong at over 9% ABV. The palate intertwines delicate farmhouse esters with earthy, spicy hops and clean malt flavors.

From Notes, 4/23/12: Poured a 750ml bottle into a Jester King snifter. First batch directly from the brewery. A: Cloudy burnt orange with a fluffy white head that settles into a ring that laces down the glass nicely. S: Citrus up front, barnyard, faint malt sweetness. Some spiciness as well. T: Follows the nose, except everything is more pronounced. Citrus in the beginning, maltiness in the middle, slightly bitter hops in the finish. M: Medium and perfect for the style. O: This is the best offering by Jester King since Black Metal. Gets better as it warms up. I can’t keep my nose out of this one, as it smells amazing. Definitely a sipper to be enjoyed with a meal. If you want a widely available comparison, Boulevard’s Tank 7 would be it. At the risk of sounding like a TX homer, I believe Mad Meg surpasses it.

Borefts 12. Very hazy orange with a decent white head. Smells weird. A bit chemical, fruity, thin. Tastes way sweeter than expected, fruity, but still a bit watery. Thin body, fizzy carbo.

Light spices, caramel malts. Sharp taste, astringent. Copper body. It’s okay but too spicy. Not awesome. (On tap at Borefts 2012)

Bottle:   Dark straw, dirty and hazy, moderate frothy white head, clumpy lacing.   Sweet bready nose, a touch tropical, some floral notes, with a touch of alcohol.   Bright straw and yeastiness on the tongue, warming, dull floral notes.   Brighter on the nose than on the tongue.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Musty finish, bready and yeasty.   Good, but not as bright or floral towards the back as I think it should be.   Thanks for the bottle Bill!
