COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mad Meg is simple in terms of ingredients with French pilsner malt, wheat, a touch of caramunich and acidulated malt, Czech Saaz hops and our farmhouse yeast. It is golden colored and quite strong at over 9% ABV. The palate intertwines delicate farmhouse esters with earthy, spicy hops and clean malt flavors.

It looks like apple cider, aroma of Belgian yeast and some fruity spiciness. Taste is similar, a really nice farmhouse.

Location: 750 ml bottle from Central Market, 6/25/13

Aroma: The nose is clean malts, heavy spice, Belgian yeast, grass and a bit of fruit
Appearance: Pours a cloudy orange color with a thick, foamy beige head and plenty of lace
Flavor: The taste is dominated by the spice, with a mild sweetness, fruit, and a little funk
Palate: The body is medium, it has a fizzy carbonation, and a dry, funky, spicy finish on the mouth
Overall Impression: I thought this was a pretty interesting beer. There’s a good amount of spice here for sure, but that isn’t the only component. The funk, sweetness, and bitterness all play roles as well, I’ll be it clearly supporting roles.

Bottle that has about 9 months or so on it. Hazy orangish copper pour with slightly tan head and solid retention. Nice lacing as well. Nose is biscuits, light grain, slight funkiness (not Brett though). Flavor is grainy, lightly tannic, pretzels, some bitterness, light earthiness, leaves. Nice creamy mouthfeel, decent carbonation and a dry finish. Bit of warmth from the alcohol on the end as well.

Grabbed a 750 ml bottle at Whip In while visiting Austin an poured it right here. Batch #8, Mar 2013. Pours light golden and slightly cloudy with a fluffy one finger head. Aroma of sweet honey and banana, yeast, and pineapple. Bit of peppery spice at the slightly dry end. Light and fruity yet slick mouthfeel. Very much tripel like. High carbonation. Awesome label. Jester King (and Texas) officially ticked!

Bottle at tasting. Pours a hazy golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma was herbal, floral, citrus, mils spice with a hint of barnyard. The flavor was herbal, floral, earth, toasted cereals, and citrus. Decent, but not my favorite from these guys.

750ml bottle in a tulip. Pours cloudy amber/copper with a big, lacy, off-white head. Aroma of spicy yeast, some light fruits, caramel and pale malts, plus a good amount of floral hops. Flavor about the same, with a nice blend of spice, fruits, and hops. Average texture. An interesting beer, but it could be a little better.

bottle from Shoky .. . pours a deep amber .. massive awesome head .. lacing too .. . what happened to this beer!?! .. a little while in the cellar and it falls apart!?! or did it suck this bad off the bat?? .. . cork, mud, dead yeast, yeast, and soggy grain .. . mild mouth .. a touch boozy .. . not at all enjoyable, another miss in the JK stable of low par beers.. .. how can they make such nice barrel/weird beers (weasel, salt lick for example) and then make so much mop water... .. still love JK but this was weak.. .. .. you paid for a song!!
