Mad Meg is simple in terms of ingredients with French pilsner malt, wheat, a touch of caramunich and acidulated malt, Czech Saaz hops and our farmhouse yeast. It is golden colored and quite strong at over 9% ABV. The palate intertwines delicate farmhouse esters with earthy, spicy hops and clean malt flavors.

From a 750 ml bottle at the Jester King Brewery, Austin, TX.
Clear golden colour with an average sized frothy white head. Sweet hoppy fruitiness and very strong sweetness in the aroma. Strong fruity, spicy and peppery flavour. Alcohol warms a lot.

75 cl bottle @ home. Pours cloudy golden with a huge white head that leaves quite a bit of lacing. Aroma is yeast, a little funk, pepper, and fruit. Flavour is much like the aroma – with a dry finish. More fascinating than good.

Gravi-cask at GBBF ’13, 16/08/13. Murky orange amber with a thin off white head. Nose is candied sugars, bitter orange, light spice, apricot, funky notes. Taste comprises sour and tarte fruit, yeast esters, sugars, light spice. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry and tarte fruity finale with delicate spice. Ok easy drinking affair, the 9% ABV doesn’t really show up much at all!

Bottle shared by friends - thanks Nick! Pours hazy amber gold, very little head. Aroma is sweet, caramel, fruit. Hint of funkiness, a fruitiness I can't place, a little tropical and spicy, cheese, gently sweet with a lightly lingering bitterness. Soft carbonation, medium/full body, thick and slick. Some earthy, almost oaky (tannin?) notes. Overall: I really like this - something about the flavor combo I haven't had before and am digging - it's intriguing and very tasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

It looks like apple cider, aroma of Belgian yeast and some fruity spiciness. Taste is similar, a really nice farmhouse.

Location: 750 ml bottle from Central Market, 6/25/13

Aroma: The nose is clean malts, heavy spice, Belgian yeast, grass and a bit of fruit
Appearance: Pours a cloudy orange color with a thick, foamy beige head and plenty of lace
Flavor: The taste is dominated by the spice, with a mild sweetness, fruit, and a little funk
Palate: The body is medium, it has a fizzy carbonation, and a dry, funky, spicy finish on the mouth
Overall Impression: I thought this was a pretty interesting beer. There’s a good amount of spice here for sure, but that isn’t the only component. The funk, sweetness, and bitterness all play roles as well, I’ll be it clearly supporting roles.
