COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Beer geeks and rodeos don’t often go together, but if ever there were a place where the two would meet, it would be Denmark No one from Jester King has ever been to Denmark, but our friends Mikkel and Thomas tell us the entire country is inhabited by craft beer drinking, spicy food loving Viking cowboys and cowgirls, and we think that sounds awesome. So as they say in Danish, bunden i vejret eller resten i haret, which we believe is pro-nounced “Yee-haw!” Jester King Craft Brewery is an authentic farm-house brewery in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, on the outskirts of Austin. We brew what we like, drink what we want and offer the rest to those who share our tastes.

Imperial Oatmeal Stout brewed with smoked malt, chipotle peppers and Vietnamese coffee.

750 ml bottle shared by bsuedekum- thanks again, Blake! Pours a pretty much opaque jet black color with a finger of fizzy dark tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate, chipotle peppers, and mild smoke. Maybe a hint of anise. Flavor is led by pepper, with coffee, dark chocolate, dark fruits, and burnt toast. Medium-bodied, with a dry, spicy, roasty mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Interesting imperial stout, but didn’t match up to the Whiskey Rodeo.

Bottle from trade with kmyers8807, thanks! Pitch black with a brown head leaving lacing. Aroma: licorice, coffee + some used coffee grounds, fruity chili, wood. Taste: dark chocolate, licorice, some smoke, hot chili, coffee. Hot chili returns again in the finish. Full-bodied. A nice chili stout, but I preferred Weasel Rodeo.

On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration. A dark black one with a medium sized creamy chocolate head. Roasted and black on the aroma, some spicy nuances and a hint of chocolate. It tastes roasted and chocolaty with a suiting calming burning spicy tone in the aftertaste. A hint of sour chocolate and strong espresso coffee as well that’s lingering in the finish and aftertaste. Geekilisiously tasty! 12.05.2012

Draught @ [ Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2012 ] @ Spartas Lokaler, Faelledparken in Osterbro, Copenhagen, Denmark.

Clear dark black brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, dark roasted, smoke. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, chili and smoke notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20120512]

Pour out of 750 mL, thanks Stephen! Dark black pour with tan head, aroma brought big notes of anise, coffee, slight vanilla, hints of vegetal from the chilies, hints of chocolate, more coffee, some dark fruits come through as well. Taste is a mix of dark fruit, smoky chilis, hints of vanilla, chocolate, coffee, slight anise in there, finishing fairly bitter, roasted, with a slight burn at the end. Pretty nice stuff, stout with chilis done well.

Bottle at the final Crooked Stave release of 2012. Pour is dark brown, almost black with a big brown head and good lacing. Coffee, roast, caramel, light peppers, potpourri, and bread in the aroma. Taste is roasty, big dark chocolate, coffee, toffee, caramel, cinnamon, and bread with a lightly spicy finish. Creamy mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Pretty good stuff and not a sign of alcohol in sight.

@ Mikkeller Bar: Mycket mörk kaffe, torr lång eftersmak, lite diskret havreton, fin balans med en liten hetta.

Draft. The look is dark, black in color, has a nice big tan head. The smell is roasty, chocolate, slight chile pepper, and coffee. The taste is good similar to the taste but with the chile pepper taste coming through.

my least favorite of the 3 JK/Mikkeller stout collabs. This is good but was lacking compared to the other 2. smooth, oily, rich mouthfeel. moderate coffee melds well with roasted malts. chipotle seem muted compared to the others.

On tap at Mikkeller Bar, November 2012. Black with a small tan head. Roasted malt, coffee, also some light notes of smoke and caramel. The finish was dry and on the bitter side.
