Tap at Saucer. Black, with a big brown head. Aroma of roast, smoke, coffee, chocolate and slight chipotle. Taste is well balanced; nice combination of flavors. Full bodied and pretty thick with low carbonation.

Sampled from bottle at Big Texas Beer Fest. Bottle. Pours black with copper head. Aroma is smokey pepper and espresso. Flavor is much the same4 with added dark chocolate notes and a well balanced heat, some sweetness and a nice alcohol kick. Heavy body with low carbonation. Great brew!

Bottle at BTBF (would love another bottle to try again). Pours with a pitch black hue with a lasting and large tan head. Huge roast aroma with light bready malt. A hint of licorice and smoke. Coffee, chocolate and raisiny dark fruit. Flavors are surprisingly dry for how big it is, big, bitter, dark fruit, light smoke, raisins, coffee (big time coffee). Luscious and big mouthfeel. Full bodied and thick, lower carbonation.

Roasted, sweet aroma. Poured black with a hint of tan colored head. Quite sweet (like most Mikkeler stouts)...roasty chocolate flavors then a nice spiced heat in the back of the throat. Just spicey enough!

(750ml bottle) jet black pour, thick creamy very dark tan head with excellent lacing and retention. Looks thick and viscous. Nose of fresh cold-pressed coffee, mild chipotle, sweet medium dark chocolate, oats and graham cracker. Taste of nicely spicy chipotle peppers, fudge, cold-pressed coffee, and oats. Thick body, smooth palate, natural carbonation, the palate finish is a damn near perfect mix of dark chocolate, smoothness from the oats and a nice spicy linger without being overbearing. Excellent.

The beer pours a very dark brown to black color with a large tan head. The aroma is full of heavily roasted malt, chocolate, pepper and a little bit of light smoke. The flavor is very similar. I get a lot of roasted malt and chocolate, with some light coffee and smoke notes. There is also a nice roasted pepper component as well as a little bit of creaminess. Medium to thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Poured at the Big Texas Beer Festival. Black pour with a tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, plenty of coffee, chocolate, and alcohol. Taste is roasted, chocolate, alcohol, a little pepper, and a little coffee.

Pitch black pour with some tan head. Nose is smoky, roasted malt, chocolate, and earth from the chilis. Flavor starts with roast, then chocolate and some smokiness, and a spicy finish. One of the best brews at the fest.

Poured at BTBF. Pour was black with a nice brown head. Aroma was coffee, wood, chocolate, and some smoke. Taste was strong bitter coffee, chocolate, and wood. Slick on the palate.

(Draught) Pours a black body with a medium brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, raisins, chocolate, subtle smoke, and chilies. Flavor of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, fire roasted chilies, smoke, and some lactose.
