4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle shared on the GABF Friday brewery tour bus and another big bruising beer (this one is only 13%) on a day of non stop beery goodness at every turn!!! It poured up with a mahogany looking body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up earthy chocolate, some dark roasted coffee and then some sweet smelling over cooked chocolate brownie. The taste is rich and yum with deep dark roasted maltiness, oily dark roasted coffee and then a bit of chili pepper like notes. Nice rich brew.

Bottle... This beer rocks!… Pours tar-black with a small, fizzy, beige head that doesn’t stick around for long. The bouquet delivers a luxuriant melding of toasted almonds, coffee and fudge. Medium to full-bodied with prickly carbonation. The flavor presents heaps of carbonic, deep-roasted coffee and bitter black malts. Loads of vanilla and sweet caramel as well. Chocolate finish with some nice vanilla and peppery heat. A bottle of this awesome stuff was downed by me, fly and the man, the myth, the legend... Walt. Thanks for sharing, broseph!

Borefts Beer Festival IV. Day 2. Opaque black - brown beer. Residual dark tan head. Smooth palate, low carbonation. Fresh minerals. Smooth coffee, rich but not bitter, deep but not dry. Trace of wood. Finishes smooth. Good stuff.

Roasted coffee with some slight spicy heat. Smoky chocolates. Black with no head and slight brown edges. Taste starts sweet and chocolate moves to coffee and then a roasted malty base with some background heat. Very easy to drink but complex....

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at GABF 2012 at the Farm to Table Pavilion. Pours a nice midnight obsidian color with a tan head. Nose is hefty coffee with peat, roast, some light earthy peppers (if I look hard), and hints of smoke, chocolate, and earth. Flavor is earthy: peat, smoke, big coffee, some light earthy peppers, some chocolate, and roasted malts. Big in body and heavenly with the dessert they paired it with.

Beer #5 at BBF12. Stout-ish beer (Oatmeal). Liquorice, chocolate and some alcohol hints. A lot of bitter hints too. Intense. Warm, liquor like aftertaste.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber bottle. The aroma is sweet, dark malt. A little coffee. Jet black with a reddish brown head. The taste starts out dark malt and turns coffee dry and finishes earthy. The palate is very dry and the pepper giving it a lingering tingle that grew as you drank. Overall, a very interesting beer. Would buy again.

Bottle at home by myself, because why not. Thanks hopper, for sending more TX goodness my way! Pour is a very dark brown with a nice mocha head that lasts as a skim and a ring around the glass, leaving spare lacing on the way down. Aroma is coffee, burnt and smokey malts, light chocolate. No hint of pepper on the nose, but that changes with the taste. More dark and roasty and smokey malts, coffee notes front palate, with a nice pepper heat on the back palate. Slightly bitter, though it’s hard to tell with the prickly pepper heat. A bit thin. Lasting burnt coffee notes after the final swallow. Not a bad beer, far preferred this to the BA version actually! Thanks again Josh!
