This variation on an imperial oatmeal stout, brewed in collaboration with Mikkeller, contains a healthy dose of authentic Kopi Luwak coffee (a.k.a. “weasel coffee”), along with other Vietnamese coffees, ground chipotle pepper. and a touch of smoked malt.

Aroma is smooth coffee. Pitch black. Lacing is only an oily looking line. Pours with no head, only a slight tan line at the edge of the glass. Taste is dark full coffee/espresso. Only very slight heat from pepper that enhances the coffee flavor. Fairly thin on the palate. Slightly oily. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A strong coffee nose, with hints of chocolate and dark fruit. A flat opaque black pour with a mostly diminishing tan head and no lacing. The taste is strong bitter coffee with hints of chocolate, dark fruit sweetness and smoke. There is a bit of alcohol in the finish and a pleasingly slight peppery aftertaste. Full boddied with flat carbonation. Overall, this a rich complex multilayered stout that is worth sampleing again and again!

Bottle shared at my "Massive Mikkeller" tasting. Another one I was pretty excited to try since I love both brewers. Good amount of coffee flavor going on here, both in the aroma and taste. Not too much heat coming from the peppers but I ain’t complaining. It was great!

UPDATED: JUN 16, 2013 One of my favorite beesr. A mocha coffee nose with a thinner but sustained head. A noticeable coffee flavor up front followed by rich malts. After it goes down a light chipotle sizzle can be felt on the tongue. Amazing palate. Must be tried- preferably on tap at the brewery, but bottles suffice.

Bottle shared by Dixen. Thanks! Pours black with a tiny brown head. Aroma has sick kopi luwak coffee, mellow chocolate, weak chili, cocoa beans and some smoke. Taste also has that nice coffee along with cocoa beans, liquorce vanilla, chili, chocolate, weak salt and some warming alcohol in the end. Pretty low carp.

Bottled@SBWF2012. Pitch black colour with not too much head. Aroma is raisins, alcohol, some mild gluelike notes as well as mild toffee. Flavour is liquorice, some alcohol, glue, toffee and quite spicy notes. Big aftertaste of coffee.

Bottle. Thanks Dixen! Aroma. Grassy, spruce, some smoke, plant sap, chocolate, roasted malts, vegetal, coffee, dusty, vanilla, earthy, butterscotch, taste follows through. But the smoke is a lot more present, a hint of spice as well, but very subtle. Quite low carbonation, which is a bit of a shame.

Bottle:   Pours black, little sudsy brownish head, dies quickly, very little lacing.   Nice nose of chocolate, coffee, a bit of pepper, and campfire.   Smooth on the tongue, chocolate, rich roasted malts, coffee, with a noticeable heat from the Chipotle peppers.   Has a bit of sweet campfire up front, perhaps thats the coffee.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Peppery on the finish, spicy, with campfire and roasted malts.   This one was fairly tasty.   Not as big in body as I would have liked, but it was very well put together.   Thanks Bill for the bottle!
