COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This version of Jester King and Mikkeller’s collaborative imperial oatmeal stout, made with chipotle peppers and smoked malt, was aged for six months in Tennessee whiskey barrels, prior to the addition of a special blend of Vietnamese coffees, including a large portion of authentic Kopi Luwak coffee (a.k.a. “weasel coffee”).

Thanks, Chris! This is surprising from Jester King. Nose is nice whiskey with a bit of coffee. Flavor falls with too much chili. Medium chewy body.

Shared by raveskdr. Thanks Chris. The beer is black with a quarter inch of beige crema head. The aroma offers roast, chocolate, molasses. The flavor is roasty and chocolate forward, followed by a zesty bite with a touch of hops. Medium to full bodied with relatively high carbonation. Bottle @ Armin’s bachelor party. Thanks Caleb! Pours a dark brown appearance with a tan/cream colored head. Kind of murky aroma with notes of chocolate, coffee, whiskey, vanilla, and wood. The flavor is even more so with a few nice notes going on (coffee, chocolate) but the whiskey kind of made it boozy and the peppers just made the thing strange. Fun to try nonetheless.

Jag har druckit några chili-öl tidigare men inga avdem har fallit mig i smaken. Den här däremot gör det, jag upplever hettan som lite upplyftande istället för påträngande och ölen är välbalanserad. Som väntat bär smaken också kraftiga toner av rostad malt och jäst.

Dark brown black colour, tan head. Aroma of bourbon, roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, bell pepper, vanilla and soy sauce. Light sweet flavour, coffee bitter, alcohol and coconut. Light wood, light red berries. Quite light body, surprisingly. Finish coffee, malts, bourbon and milk chocolate. Only a hint of chili.

Sampled at an ESBLS tasting. It poured a dark brown color with a small tan head. The aroma was of chocolate, coffee, peppers, peat and some caramel. The taste was medium to heavy sweet and moderately bitter. A full bodied beer with soft carbonation. Very tasty.

Sample at Borefts Beer Festival 2012. Pours a pitch black beer with no head. The aroma is malt, roasted, chocolate, licorice, vanilla, wood and alcohol. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is sweetness with alcoholwarmth. Overall a good beer with a high level of alcohol.

Sampled at GonzoIllini’s Birthday Party (Western Springs, IL). Happy Birthday, Tony! Pours a rich blackish hue, good darkness, haze, and murky. Good frothy brownish head, good haze, nice frothy brownish head stays well, laces. Aromas are coffee, whiskey, and gentle peppery heat. Touches of coffee, roast, and caramel. Growing gentle pepper, oak, vanilla, gentle whiskey heat. Initial is heavier end of the fold, good body despite barrel time. Toffee, toast, roasty. Coffee, cocoa, and whiskey. Gentle peppery heat into the middle, faint but slowly growing, a touch of synergy with the spirit. Backend and finish show some toastiness, carmelized, gentle roast and toffee. Oak, vanilla, kiss of spice. Nice beer.

Bottle. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty coffee and chocolate aroma with woody hints. Roasted malty coffee and chocolate flavor with weak spicy chili hints and woody bourbon hints. Has a roasted malty woody coffee and chili finish.
