COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Barrel-Aged Sour Brown Ale. In Britain, what started out as young or “mild” dark ale was once aged in oak barrels to make something that was likely similar to sour brown ales of East Flanders. Using a similar base recipe to Commercial Suicide Dark Mild, Ol’ Oi! is Jester King’s tribute to that tradition.

Murky red, bright and wholesome looking with a decent contrasting off white ringed head. Nose is brassy funk (so much brass this afternoon), vibrant cherry and twiggy funk. Rich tang throughout, initial taste is hints of taught berry and floundering tartness but a wee boost of sweetness. Solid carbonation and a decent peel of mouthfeel. Finishes keen tartness, more cherry and berry buzz and a long reaching brassy tart linger.

Bottle @ RBSG 2015. Hazed amber colored beer with some off-white foam. Aromas of charred oak, grape skin, and some red wine vinegar. Has a bit of berry and lemon peel, maybe some grass, mushroom, and caramel. Pretty interesting. There’s a mild sweetness on the tongue, but quickly overcome by the sourness of lemon and some acetic qualities. Moderate fruitiness, tannic and oaky finish, and some mild funk. Pretty nicely done.
