Red ale aged in oak barrels with wild yeast and souring bacteria. Unfiltered, unpasteurized, and bottle-conditioned. This beer is a tribute to our good friend Russ Beadie. Thanks, Russ. Thuss.

750 ml. Batch 4. Dark red. It’s pretty sour, but not too much that it isn’t easily drinkable. Probably could have finished the whole bottle myself. Soft lingering sourness. Quite good. Not sure why it isn’t higher than it is. Maybe the first batches were off, but this was great.

Rusty red with an off-white head. Aroma is red currants, cherries, hint of red wine. Medium-full bodied, slightly syrupy mouthfeel, big fruity finish. Flavours are blackberry, strawberry, red currants, pomegranate. Yum!

750 ml Bottle shared by Jason H. 2013 vintage. Let me start by saying I’m not a fan of the style. Yet, JK hits the style of the perfect. Color is a dirty brown with ruby hues, dirty. Aroma is old cherries, sour grain, oak barrel and toffee type malts.

Flavor is a total mirror of the nose. Hints of vinegar that is a turn off for me. Lower carbonation with a thinner body. Lactic sour notes, mild bitterness with a dry mouthfeel. I rate this on a slight curve (leaving out my personal feelings) because they really hit the mark with this brew!

Considering I really am not crazy about sour red/brown ales, this was surprisingly good. Pours an orange reddish brown color. Smell is funky yeast and not my favorite. Taste is tart soury malt. Not overly funky at all flavorwise. Some cereal like grain sweetness as it warms. Medium body and light carbonation. Not bad at all.

Bottle thanks to Jason for sharing. Cloudy copper pour with a small foamy head that fades quickly to a nice ring. Aroma sour cherry funk, light jam, light brett, and light yogurt. Taste very acidic and sour. Lots of vinegar too. Tart and tannic finish. A little too rough for my sour tastes.

Bottle, batch 5. Pours a deep red color with a larg white head. Aromas of oak and nondescript yogurt. Taste is off dry, sour, minimal bitterness. Flavors of huge oak, barrel, tart yogurt, gritty, some spice. Caramel. Finishes sour and tannic but not cloying at all. Solid.
