Red ale aged in oak barrels with wild yeast and souring bacteria. Unfiltered, unpasteurized, and bottle-conditioned. This beer is a tribute to our good friend Russ Beadie. Thanks, Russ. Thuss.

Bottle thanks to the angrypirate06. RU-55 Drank while listening to RU486. Pours with a deep brown to mahogany hued body with a medium sized off-white head that fades relatively quickly. Aromas are of waxy, sundried and cara cara oranges, brett, wet wood and funk. Medium malt complexity, earthy, vinous, balsamic. Deep and complex. Flavors are of acid, mostly lactic with medium acidic. Deep malt overtones including toast, roast and caramel, massively vinous and strongly lactic. Pencil shaving and iodine. Good acidity. Slightly rustic with a negative connotation. Complex and quite sour, very light butyric acid. Very lively carbonation, dry. Feels bigger than 7.3%. Good, straight forward lacticly sour red. Overall nicely sour, with a slightly awkward but deep woodsy and waxy funk profile.

decent sour brown, good tart flavors, a little thin. THe red wine saves it, best barrel treatment IMO for this style.

Sample at the 2014 Infected Chimipalooza on 11/01/2014. Cloudy reddish-amber color with a medium white head that dissipates to a wispy film. Strings of lacing. Aroma of funky yeast, fruit and spice. Medium body with flavors of tart cherries, oak and herbal yeast. The finish is tart with a funky cherry aftertaste. Above average overall.

Very tasty sour beer. A large bottle was given to me by a friend recently and I drank the entire thing by myself, which is a testament to how tasty this beer was. Complex. Extremely flavorful with an assertive sourness.

Tap at CBC 2014. Beer in the glass brownish, small head. Fruity aroma of cherries. Starts mild, fine sourish-fruity, notes of berries. More and more dry, a bit moldy. Dry and sourish finish, bitter aftertaste. Okay.

Bottle split at Leightons, from an IP with a Texan dude, 02/09/14. Opaque reddish amber with a well appointed light beige covering. Nose is fruit balsams, sour mash, tangy citric tinged woodlings, red grapes, tannins, dank wood, dirty red berries, acidic tunes. Taste comprises soured red berries, spice, earthy tones, dank wood must, funk, fruit balsams, acetic tones, bitter orange. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with an acidic rinse. Decent sour red, excellent balance, chugged quite a bit of this in a quick space of time!
