COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
India Pale Ale brewed with nearly three pounds of hops per barrel and 15% malted rye. Dry, flavorful, drinkable beer with vibrant notes of citrus, tropical fruit and pine.

Note: This entry is the original Wytchmaker. Beginning around the time of their first anniversary, Jester King switched to a farmhouse yeast for all of their beers. All ratings after this switch should be entered under the Farmhouse Wytchmaker Rye IPA entry. The original Wytchmaker bottles feature a small Jester King sticker on the neck; the Farmhouse Wytchmaker bottles have the word "Farmhouse" in small print on the label.

Bottle from Caponeís. Pours a clear amber with tons of white head. Aroma is strangely soapy, barnyard, not hoppy at all. Taste is very tart, crisp, and dry. Not much malt coming through. Some hop stickiness is present. I believe this has some Brett in it, but iím not downgrading a beer with Brett that is called "wytchmaker".

Bottle, 75cl. Itís an unclear, golden orange beer, with a dense, creamy and large off-white head. Hints of lemon in the aroma, very fruity and piney, with some faint resiny hints. Not much maltyness going on. The flavor too is on the hoppy side, some maltyness as a foundation for the fruityness, pine cones and bitterness. A bit too effervescent on the palate, but I sort of like it. Full body, and a bitter finish with lemon peel. A really tasteful and pleasant beer. 120525

From bottle @Borefts 2012. Hazy honey golden. Medium white head. Nice aroma of rose-ship, fruit candy, flowers and mixed citrus fruits. Light caramelly malt body. Smooth rye tones. Nice fruity hoppy.Tight bitterness. Fresh yeasty and hoppy endnotes. A treat!

from Erzbierschof - cloudy dark red-amber beer with a persistent beige foam; nice lacework; hoppy aroma of mango and elderflowers; overcarbonated, medium-bodied, some smoothiness and a corny tartness; fairly bitter, fizzy and hoppy fruity finish with some residual sugars

Slight haze on this amber beer. Massive off white head. Palate is airy and crispy. Smooth hops - a little minty, pine too. Mild tropical fruits. A little rye spice. Good stuff.

From 0.75l bottle @ Borefts 2012. This is a hazy dark heather-honey colored one with a small sidesticking off-white head. Classic American on the nose fruity, hoppy, peaches and a sweet malty background. A bit + sweet perhaps? Nice. It has a soft to average carbonation level and a gliding oily mouthfeel. Great piney bitterness, kinda concentrated and sweet. Caramel and dried caramelized fruits. A nice one! 28.09.2012

750 from Caponeís. Pours turbid orange with 2-finger fluffy white head that laces well. Nose is rye and caramel malts, orange marmalade, pineapple, tangerine, honey. Tastes dry, floral, with a lot of rye flavor, hops, and tropical fruit. Like a drier Flower Power with not quite as much hops. Another nice beer from Jester King, who continue to impress the hell out of me, and that isnít easy.

750ml bottle sent by crajun from his free beer contest, thanks man! Pours a dark golden amber with a thick white head and lacing in the glass, the aroma has a nice amount of the dry rye with a little bit of citrus and fruit mixed in, the flavor has a nice fruity front end with a lot of the rye and dryness coming through in the finish, the rye comes through a lot, itís fruity but rye beers arenít just my thing, good but I think it would have been better without the rye.

Tangerine on the nose. Citrus up front. Followed by bitter from hop and pepper from rye. Long on the palate.
