3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 jkbier (24) - Kiel, GERMANY - MAR 2, 2006
Bottle. Pours dark red, nearly black. Somewhat opaque, with a medium, cream colored head. Aroma of roast malt and coffee. Very dry mouthfeel, with flavors of roast malt, roast malt and again, roast malt. Then comes a bit of coffee flavor and hint of dark chocolate. Average carbonation. The finish is dry, hoppy and long. Very dry for a Schwarzbier, but definitely good.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 BeerBlockaid (679) - Jacksonville, Florida, USA - JAN 5, 2006
consumed at some resturaunt in downtown Dresden, Germany. They had a yummy 4 cheese soup. THe pour was engine oil black with little to no head into a Jever straight glass. Full texture and body but not reallz complex. Rather smooth like cola with a decent carb and a swirl of roasted malts and coca. But again, nothing complex enough to really bring things out.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Papsoe (21782) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - NOV 20, 2005
(Bottle 33 cl) Very black - almost opaque - with a decent, slightly off-white head. Nice, full body with lots of roasted malts. Smooth and pleasant and not as ashy dry as some Schwarzbiers. Comes in an unusual body with the label printed on to it. 210403
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 rpattinson (84) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - OCT 7, 2005
Almost black in colour: caramel, liquorice, grass and malt aroma; neutral taste with cream and toffee aromas; bitterish finish with cream aroma.
A bit bland, but with some OK malt flavours. It seems unsure of whether to be a münchner or a schwarzbier.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 MoritzF (7137) - Bochum, GERMANY - SEP 26, 2005
(bottle) Dark brown colour with a small creamy off-white head. Slightly sweet malty aroma with hints of roasted malts, caramel and coffee. Bittersweet flavour, medium body. Roastmalty taste with a tinge of bitter chocolate, moderate and quite balanced bitterhoppy finish. A little bit overcarbonated but okay Schwarzbeer.
