4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 womencantsail (3572) - Home of Rebecca Black, California, USA - JAN 3, 2011
A: The pour is a slightly clouded, but for the most part clear, straw color with a big white head.
S: A really clean and crisp nose with light malts and just a bit of cracker/bread. There’s a really good floral and earthy hop character and a touch of citrus zest. A touch of lager yeast is present as well.
T: The flavor is just as great! A solid, but light, malt flavor with floral, earthy, and perhaps a touch of grassy hop flavor. There is a mild bitterness but a really crisp and refreshing flavor.
M: A light to medium body with a lively carbonation and a dry finish.
D: I’m surprised to see the ratings for this beer. Easily one of the best pilsners I’ve ever had.

Jever Pilsner 12/22/10 (Green bottle. Good crisp grass and earthy aroma; clean. Body is light but with some fullness, perhaps from water minerality. Flavor is classic refined grassy and fragrant Hallertau, nice middle cracker biscuit notes. Surprisingly compelling and well balanced pilsner.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 birrabona (72) - ITALY - DEC 14, 2010
Strangely enough, a bitter pils I do not like. A lot of bitter and dry entering. But a bitter taste that I am not convinced about finesse. A hint of hops which ends abruptly this puzzles me. Brave recipe is outside the norms of the most bitter beers, I appreciate the intensity with which fills the mouth and the freshness of the bitter.

Had several of these while in Ansbach on vacation, June 2009. .5L bottles. Nice German Pils. Good hop bitterness, dry and crisp. Well made and enjoyable.
